Amazon One palm payments technology is coming to all 500+ Whole Foods Market stores in the U.S. - About Amazon News

Panzer says, The future is here.
The future is here.
Today, Panzer stopped in at the About Amazon site. There our intrepid traveling kitty boy found an interesting post about Amazon One.

The post is by Sanjay Dash, VP, Identity Checkout Technologies, AWS Applications. The post gives information about current Palm One users in the retail, sports and travel industries. The post begins with an information video and has a FAQ at the end. It also includes links to other posts with information about Amazon.

Panzer says, "This little kitty can't wait to sign-up so he can use his palm (paw) to check out."

Note: This is a long post. You'll need to decide what to bring to snack on while you read.

Update on COVID-19 Testing - The Amazon Blog

Today, Panzer made a trip to The Amazon Blog site.  With a little digging in the posts our inquisitive kitty boy found one about Amazon's response to Covid-19 testing in the company's workplaces.

That's not a lot.

According to the blog post, Amazon is conducting Covid-19 tests of company employees not just at U.S. fulfillment centers, but at the company's Whole Foods Markets as well. Employees have been tested multiple times in case there are asymtomatic workers. Of those employees tested there have been 19,816 positive tests. Employees with positive test results are placed on paid quarantine until they recover. The post includes a link to a chart with all the U.S. states and the number of positive Covid-19 employee cases per 1,000 employees in that state.

Panzer says, "If you go all the way to the bottom of the chart linked in the post, there is some information about the numbers on the chart."

Note: This is a medium length post. Bring a cup of tea and a muffin for today's reading.

Amazon and Whole Foods Market Announces Acquisition to Close This Monday, Will Work Together to Make High-Quality, Natural and Organic Food Affordable for Everyone - Press Release

Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to the Amazon press site. There our adventuresome kitty found a press release about Amazon and Whole Foods.

According to the press release, Amazon's acquisition of Whole Foods Market will be completed on Monday, August 28. In keeping with Amazon and Whole Foods wish to make high-quality food affordable, in conjunction with the acquisition on Monday some Whole Foods food prices will be lowered. Also, after the technology is integrated into the stores Amazon Prime will be Whole Foods rewards program to give customers lower prices. There's much more information about the acquisition contained in the press release.
I need a nap after all that.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... Guess everybody has to buy Amazon Prime if you plan to shop at Whole Foods. If you have to do that it doesn't sound like they're lowering the cost of food to this little kitty."

Note: This is a longish-medium post. Bring a cup of tea and a muffin for today's reading selection.

Whole Foods Shareholders Sue to Block Amazon Merger - Courthouse News Service

As soon as Panzer entered the Catosphere today the Panzermobile was buffeted by ranting and raving and shouting. Following all the reverberating noises took our brave kitty boy to the Courthouse News Service site. There he found a post about two Texas court cases filed against the Whole Foods Market and Amazon merger/acquisition.

According to the post by Ryan Kocian, two Whole Foods Market shareholders have filed separate lawsuits against Whole Foods Markets and Amazon to stop the proposed merger/acquisition. In one suit Robert Riegel is suing Whole Foods Market and the board of directors. In the second suit Robert Berg is suing Whole Foods Market, the board of directors, Amazon.com and Walnut Merger Sub. Both suits claim a lack of certain financial information, the lack of certain conflict of interest information, and the lack of certain banker interest and financial compensation information makes the proxy statement false and misleading to the shareholders. Both suits are seeking to get class action status.

Blindsided me. Never saw it coming.
Panzer says, "Hmm ... And this little kitty thought it was going to be the federal government that would slow down the acquisition."

Note: This is a h-u-g-e post. Bring a thermos of tea, half a dozen muffins and two cinnamon rolls for today's reading selection.

Amazon to Acquire Whole Foods Market - Press Release

Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when the Panzermobile was suddenly buffeted by oohing and aahing. Following the brouhaha of noise took our intrepid kitty boy to the Amazon Press Room site. There he found a press release about Amazon's newest business market expansion.

Grocery stores?
According to the press release, Amazon plans to acquire grocery store chain Whole Foods Market. Whole Foods Market's stores are bricks and mortar locations. As part of the acquisition Amazon will also take over Whole Foods Market's debts. Before the acquisition can be completed, the company shareholders will have to vote in agreement with Amazon's offer. The press release is actually divided into sections. The first section is the announcement of the acquisition, the second explains about Amazon, the third explains about Whole Foods Market, and then there are four more sections explaining about how the acquisition will work.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... Can you believe it? A grocery store chain? Amazon just keeps getting bigger and bigger."

Note: The press release part about the announcement of the acquisition is relatively short. If that's all you plan to read, bring a cup of tea and a muffin. However, if you plan to read all the other sections, bring a thermos of tea and a half dozen muffins.
