Erica Verrillo's list includes 92 paying markets open to submissions now. The markets accept fiction, nonfiction, poetry, short stories, prose, essay, and memoir. Some are genre specific and some have restrictions.
 
Panzer says, "Be sure to read the guidelines. Some of these markets have an October 1 submission deadline!"

Book Business Applauds Government Lawsuit Against Amazon - Publishers Weekly

On today's stop at the Publishers Weekly site Panzer discovered a post about the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filing suit against Amazon. Panzer told you earlier this month that the lawsuit was in preparation by the FTC.
 
Panzer says, This will be interesting to watch.
This will be interesting to watch.
According to the post by Jim Milliot, the FTC is accusing Amazon of antitrust behavior. This behavior is detrimental to competitors. The post contains several links to other information about the lawsuit as well as a link to Amazon's response to the FTC's allegations.
 
Panzer says, "The post says there's not much mention about books in the lawsuit."

 According to Porter Anderson's post, the writers on the shortlist are from the United Kingdom, Ireland, United States, and Canada. The post includes the name and a photo of each of the six writers on the shortlist.

Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing Will Limit Daily Number of Titles - Publishers Weekly

Today, at the Publishers Weekly site Panzer found a post about Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP).

According to a post by Jim Milliot, Amazon announced on Monday they will only allow a self-publisher to upload three books per day on KDP. Amazon also makes a reference to its previous post about policy and AI-generated material. The post includes a link to Amazon's announcement in the Community Forum.
 
Panzer says, "This little kitty still remembers when everybody started publishing those no content empty diaries and journals. Humans will do anything to avoid working to make money."

Callum McSorley won The McIlvanney Prize Scottish Crime Book of the Year and Kate Foster won The Bloody Scotland Scottish Crime Debut of the Year.
 
The announcement also includes the judges' remarks about the winning entries

Internet Archive Files Appeal in Copyright Infringement Case - Publishers Weekly

Today, Panzer made a stop at the Publishers Weekly site. There with a little digging in the posts, our intrepid kitty traveler found one about the Internet Archive (IA) lawsuit.
 
The post by Andrew Albanese states the Internet Archive (IA) filed an appeal of last month's court judgement against IA. In that case Judge John G. Koeltl determined IA did commit copyright infringement when they scanned and "loaned" copies of publishers' books without permission or payments to the publishers.
 
Panzer says, "It's no surprise. We all knew they were going to appeal."

The Forum is where authors can ask questions, get answers and learn about publishing at KDP. It's also one of the places Amazon makes publishing announcements. The post contains links, including one which goes to Amazon's announcement.

Panzer says, "This little kitty thinks, it looks like Amazon says, 'We'll ask you if your book is either partially or fully AI-generated'. We expect you to tell us the truth."
