Bookstore.org Teams with Draft2Digital - Publishers Weekly

I feeel better today.

On his way home from the Catosphere Panzer made a stop at the Publishers Weekly site. There our traveling kitty boy found a post about Draft2Digital.

 

Ed Nawolka reports Draft2Digital and Bookshop.org have an agreement which allows D2D authors to sell their books through Bookshop.org.

 

Panzer says, "That's a whole new marketplace for indie authors."

So Much for That Hiatus - The Rap Sheet

Today, Panzer made a stop at The Rap Sheet site. There with just a tiny bit of digging he found a post about the resurrection of a criminal poetry site which shut down in 2023.

 

According to J. Kingston Pierce's post, The Five-Two is open for submissions again. The post includes links to the submission guidelines and other information about the site.

 

Panzer says, "Sounds like it might be fun to try."

Erica Verrillo's list for submissions for September has 95 markets. These are markets for fiction and nonfiction in all genres. The list only contains paying markets.

Erica Verrillo's post lists 84 markets looking for submissions in November. The list includes publications looking for fiction, nonfiction, short stories, poetry and essays. Some have closing deadlines of November 1, so you'll need to see if you something suitable now. All are paying markets.

Erica Verrillo's list includes 92 paying markets open to submissions now. The markets accept fiction, nonfiction, poetry, short stories, prose, essay, and memoir. Some are genre specific and some have restrictions.

 

Panzer says, "Be sure to read the guidelines. Some of these markets have an October 1 submission deadline!"

August Markets for Writers - Various

My work is never finished.

Panzer was cleaning out the Panzermobile hangar, when he happened to see two wadded up posts shoved under the workbench. Flattening them out, our busy kitty discovered they were posts about magazine markets and jobs available for writers in August.

 One of the posts was from Erika Dreifus' site with a listing of markets and jobs for writers. The other was a post from Trish Hopkinson's site with a listing of markets for poets and prose writers.

Panzer says, "Although the month is almost half over, I decided to post it because many of the submission deadlines aren't until August 31."

Note: There are a lot of listings on the two sites. It's up to you what you bring to drink and eat while you're exploring all the markets.

27 Calls for Submissions in July 2019 - Paying markets - Publishing ... and Other Forms of Insanity

Today as Panzer was taking his after lunch nap, he was shaken from his kitty bed by clapping and cheering coming from the Catosphere. Hopping in the Panzermobile, our sleepy kitty boy followed all the noise to the Publishing ... and Other Forms of Insanity site. There he found a post about 27 paying markets accepting submissions from writers.

According to the post at the site by Erica Verrillo, the post contains 27 markets with July deadlines accepting writing submissions. While it's true all the markets have July deadlines 12 are July 1 deadlines. That leaves 15 still open for submissions. The markets are open for poems, short stories, nonfiction and plays. Included in the post is a link to the Calls for Submissions page where she posts markets as she finds them.

Now it's back to my nap.

The statistics behind audiobooks' continued growth - Perspectives On Reading

Panzer's trip into the Catosphere took him to the Perspectives On Reading site. There our traveling kitty found a post about audiobooks.

According to Perspective on Reading staff writer Adam Sockel, library audio book usage is up 46 percent. So far this year library users have checked out 220,000 audio books daily. The post includes several charts to show audio book listeners by age, listening habits, daily length of time listening, and more. Perspectives on Reading is a publication of library supplier OverDrive.

Yes, it's definitely time.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... This little kitty thinks it's time to do an audio book to get into the library market."

Recorded Books Acquires christianaudio - PW (Publishers' Weekly)

A cat's work is never done.

Panzer made a quick trip into the Catosphere today. Our kitty pilot stopped to see what his friends at the Publishers' Weekly site were doing. There he discovered a post about Recorded Books and christianaudio.

According to a post by Emma Koonse, Recorded Books has announced their acquisition of christianaudio. Recorded Books is an indie audio book publisher of Christian fiction and clean romances. Christianaudio is an audio book publisher of fiction and nonfiction. Consequently, the acquisition of christianaudio will help Recorded Books in these markets.

Panzer says, "This seems like a niche market with a lot of potential and very little competition."
