Today at the Publishing Perspectives site, Panzer learned the Booker Prize for Fiction shortlist has been announced.

 

 According to Porter Anderson's post, the writers on the shortlist are from the United Kingdom, Ireland, United States, and Canada. The post includes the name and a photo of each of the six writers on the shortlist.

Panzer says, "The winner will be announced on November 26.

Wales and Ireland close non-essential shops in new lockdowns - The Bookseller

 Today as Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere he heard crying and sobbing outside. Following all the noise took our kitty pilot to The Bookseller site. With just a little digging in the posts, he discovered one about new Covid-19 lockdowns in Ireland and Wales.

 

According to the post by Mark Chandler, Wales and Ireland are closing all non-essential shops, including bookstores in a new lockdown. Wales' lockdown will last for two weeks and Ireland's lockdown will last for six weeks. Bookstores can still sell online and by telephone.

 

Books are essential.

Panzer says, "That virus thingy just isn't going away."

'Bookseller to the Stars': Chapters Bookstore Dublin inadvertently launch parody sketch series - Irish Examiner

Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when he heard laughing and chortling outside the Panzermobile. Following all the clapping took our inquisitive kitty boy to the Irish Examiner site. There he discovered a post about a "joke" video demonstrating how to shelve books in a bookstore.

I just can't quit watching it.

The post by Ciaran Sunderland describes how the video became a viral sensation online. The video was done by staff members at the Chapters Bookstore Dublin (Ireland). It was recorded by cellphone, edited and posted online. The video is included and clickable in the post.

Panzer says, "That guy in the video acts a lot like What's His Name when he's telling Mom how to do something."

This is a short post and a two minute video. Don't bring any tea for today's selection because, if you spit tea all over the keyboard when you start laughing, you'll have to replace your computer. You have been warned.

ACX Launches in Canada, Ireland - The Digital Reader

Today as Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere the Panzermobile was suddenly buffeted and knocked around by cheering and clapping. Our strong kitty pilot nearly lost control of his ship. Following all the hullabaloo took him to The Digital Reader site. With no digging at all he discovered the news about Audible Creation Exchange (ACX) that was causing all the noise.

Mom says I have a nice speaking voice.

It turns out, according to a post by site owner Nate Hoffelder that Audible Creation Exchange (ACX) is making their services available in Canada and Ireland. ACX gives authors and publishers the ability to make audiobooks by either narrating their books and stories themselves or hiring a narrator to do it for them. Publishers generally hire a narrator rather than ask the author to narrate their work. When approached, narrators audition with the hope of being hired. Until now ACX's services have only been available to authors and publishers in the U.S. and the U.K. Mr. Hoffelder's post includes a link to the original announcement from ACX.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... It's a whole new opportunity for this little kitty."
