Swift Wins 40th Anniversary Clarke Award - Locus

 
The Arthur C. Clarke Award for Best SD Novel went to When There Are Wolves Again by E. J. Swift.
Yesterday was a big party day for black cats.
Today's first stop in the Catosphere for Panzer was the Locus magazine blog site. There he found a post about the 2026 Clarke Award.
 
On August 12 When There Are Wolves Again by E. J. Swift was announced the winner of the 2026 Arthur C. Clarke Award for best SF novel of the year.

Anthropic just rolled out a tool that could decimate some people's dreams of writing AI novels undetected - Business Insider

Anthropic announced that effective August 2 Claude will be adding a watermark to all the material it generates.

Panzer says, "So, no more here's my great steamy New York zebra-riding vampire cowboy in love with a dolphin-riding mermaid romance. No. Wait. Read almost all the way to the end and you'll find a way to fix that watermark."

Aurealis Awards Changes - Locus

A link to a post about the entry fees for the Aurealis Awards for Australian speculative fiction writers.
My treats come before everything else.
Panzer found an interesting post about Australia's Aurealis Awards at the Locus site.
 
According to the post the Queensland Writers Centre (QWC) has increased the entry fees for the Aurealis Awards. A letter protesting the increases and wanting AI material banned. It's was signed by over 200 writers and editors and sent to QWC. The Aurealis Awards are given for the best Australian speculative fiction.
 
Panzer says, "Entry fees eat into this little kitty's treats supply, so he doesn't enter contests with fees."

Mon told me that if parents compliment children it boosts their confidence.
She said that's a good thing.

She needs to learn you don't ever compliment a cat.
N o-o-o-o ... a real bad idea.
 

A cat joke about humans complimenting cats.
Good kitty. You're kidding right?
Cats will always take such sentiments and turn them into moments of disbelief
and ... then hilarity.
 
How dare a mere human ... an inferior species to cats ... pass judgement on us ...
