Aurealis Awards Changes - Locus

My treats come before everything else.

Panzer found an interesting post about Australia's Aurealis Awards at the Locus site.

 

According to the post the Queensland Writers Centre (QWC) has increased the entry fees for the Aurealis Awards. A letter protesting the increases and wanting AI material banned. It's was signed by over 200 writers and editors and sent to QWC. The Aurealis Awards are given for the best Australian speculative fiction.

 

Panzer says, "Entry fees eat into this little kitty's treats supply, so he doesn't enter contests with fees."

2026 Locus Award Winners

It's a huge list.

Today Panzer stopped in at the Locus Magazine Blog. If you're a science fiction, fantasy or horror fan you're probably familiar with Locus.

 

The Locus Science Fiction Foundation 2026 Locus Awards winners and the nominees in each of the 18 categories are listed at the site. The categories cover fiction, non-fiction, illustrators, editors, and publishers.

Analog, Asimov's, and F&SF Under New Ownership - Locus

Will they keep the same submission guidelines?

Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when he decided to make a stop at the Locus (Magazine) site. There our intrepid traveling kitty boy found a startling post about three science fiction magazines and two mystery magazines.

 

According to the post, Analog, Asimov's, and Fantasy and Science Fiction magazines have been acquired by 1 Paragraph, Inc./Must Read Magazines. At the end of the post it says Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine and Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine have also been acquired by the same company.

 

Panzer says, "Hmm ... All five short story markets will be owned by the same company."
