Panzer made a stop at the Publishers Daily site today. With no digging at all he found a post about a new manuscript with AI help suspicions problems.

 

The post describes the problems an author has encountered with his agents and publishers because his manuscript didn't pass an AI detecter test. The publishers cancelled his book publications and his agents fired him as a client.

 

Panzer says, "This little kitty never heard of the AI sniffer they used, but he's heard originality.ai is good."

How to cancel or postpone a KDP preorder deadline without penalty - Creativindie

Today Panzer decided to visit some of the sites he hasn't been to for a while. Our nostalgic kitty boy made a stop at the Creativindie site. With a little digging in the posts there he found one about cancelling or postponing an author's pre-order deadline.

 

Cats don't like deadlines.

According to site owner and author Derek Murphy, over the years he's had to change his pre-order deadlines several times. Previously, KDP banned him from having pre-orders for a year. Now KDP has changed the pre-order deadline cancel and postpone rules. Derek Murphy explains the new rules and the steps necessary to successfully use them.

Panzer says, "Sometimes life just gets in the way and you can't finish your book on time."

A Sudden Reversal: Leipzig Book Fair Is Cancelled - Publishing Perspectives

Today as Panzer entered the Catosphere he heard crying and the gnashing of teeth. Following all the angst, took our brave kitty boy to the Publishing Perspectives site. There he discovered a post about the Leipzig Book Fair in Germany was causing all the upset.

 

I'm tired of it. Are you?

According to Porter Anderson's post, the Leipzig Book Fair is cancelled. The Book Fair was scheduled to run from March 17 to 20. Information about the cancellation lists exhibitors' staff shortages due to the pandemic as the major cause. This is the third time the Fair has been cancelled.

Panzer says, "That Covid-19 thingy is still causing problems."

ABA Cancels 2022 Winter Institute - Publishers Weekly

I'm really tired of this.

Panzer was shaken from his kitty nap by booing and hissing coming from the Catosphere. Jumping in the Panzermobile, he followed all the noise to the Publishers Weekly site. There he discovered all the angst concerned a post about the ABA's Winter Institute.

 
According to the post by Ed Nawotka, due to the Covid-19 increase in cases the American Booksellers Association (ABA) has cancelled their in-person Feb. 13-16 Winter Institute. The ABA will announce other plans soon.

Panzer says, "Will that virus thingy ever go away?"

Singing the Bouchercon Blues - The Rap Sheet

 Panze had hardly laid his head down for his nap when crying and screaming coming from the Catosphere forced him up. Jumping in the Panzermobile, he followed all the noise to The Rap Sheet site. There he discovered news about Mystery Writers of America's (MWA) Bouchercon.

According to J. Kingston Pierce's post, Bouchercon 2021 in New Orleans, Louisiana, has been cancelled due to Covid-19 concerns. The post contains links to more information about the cancellation.

Now back to that nap.

Coronavirus: Reed Exhibitions Cancels London Book Fair 'With Reluctance' - Publishing Perspectives

Panzer was shaken from his nap in his kitty bed by crying and moaning coming from the Catosphere. Hopping in the Panzermobile, our brave kitty followed all the noise to the Publishing Perspectives site. There he learned the sad news about the London Book Fair.

According to Porter Anderson's post, this month's London Book Fair has been cancelled due to the coronavirus (Covid-19). As publishers were withdrawing, travel restrictions were being imposed and more cases of the virus were being reported in the UK, Reed Exhibitions decided to cancel the Book Fair. The UK government declared coronavirus a 'notifiable disease' so the Book Fair's losses will be covered by insurance. There are several links in the post.

Don't worry. It won't be you. It'll be grandma.

Panzer says, "I heard Mom tell What's His Name she heard some guy on the television say 80 percent of the people who get that virus thingy hardly get sick at all. The other 20 percent get really, really sick and a lot of them die. The guy said not to worry about it though.  Because ... the 80 percent are 60 years and younger and the 20 percent are over 60 years old. ... Hmm ... Don't worry. ... Because ... It's just those grandmas and grandpas that will be gone."

Amazon Pulls Out Of Planned New York City Headquarters - The New York Times

Panzer was shaken from his after lunch nap by shouting coming from the Catosphere. Putting on earmuffs to protect his sensitive kitty hearing, our brave kitty boy hopped into the Panzermobile. Following the cacophony took him to The New York Times site. There he found a post about Amazon's HQ2.

The post by J. David Goodman stated that today Amazon announced the cancellation of HQ2 in New York City. The company cancelled their plans after protests against the opening of HQ2 there. The protests were led by state and local politicians and some city residents. The post contains statements by the New York governor, the New York City mayor and others. It also includes the text of Amazon's announcement of the cancellation in which the company explains its decision. The announcement also states the company won't re-open the search for a location for HQ2.

I will never understand humans.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... Okay, the state of New York hates Amazon and the 25,000 jobs the company was bringing there."
