In a quick stop at the Mystery Fanfare site Panzer found information about the Anthony Awards.

 

Janet Rudolph's post lists the ten Anthony Award winners who were announced at Bouchercon on September 6.

 

Panzer says, "Shamus winners yesterday and Anthony winners today."

Facing Off for Anthonys - The Rap Sheet

Today, Panzer made a short trip to The Rap Sheet site. Our speedy little kitty boy found a post about the Anthony Awards there.

 

J. Kingston Pierce's post lists the nominees in all ten of the categories for Anthony Awards. The winners won't be announced until September.

 

Panzer says, "The winners will be announced at Bouchercon."

Bouchercon Discord Hits Social Media - The Rap Sheett

If you don't know, it's best to keep your mouth shut.

Today as Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere the Panzermobile was suddenly shaken by noises and howling coming from outside. Following all the chaos, took our brave little kitty pilot to The Rap Sheet site. There he discovered a disagreement in Bouchercon was causing all the trouble in the Catosphere.

 

J. Kingston Pierce's post contains quotes from people about the choice of an interviewer in part of the program and some people's reaction to the choice.

Panzer says, "This little kitty doesn't know anything they're talking about, so it's best he keeps out of it. He's just giving you a link so you can read about it."

Short Mystery Fiction Society Derringers Awards - Bouchercon

 On Saturday Panzer told you about the free Bouchercon videos posted on YouTube.

Bouchercon 2021 Free Presentations

Although due to the Covid-19 pandemic Bouchercon was cancelled this year, Panzer found two free presentation that were done via Zoom and posted online at YouTube.

The first is titled James Lee Burke and Alafair Burke in Conversation. 

The second is titled The Thrill of the Short Story: Video Panel

Free is good.

The Anthony Awards presentation will also be free and on Zoom at 4:00 pm today and posted at the same YouTube channel as the James Lee Burke and Alafair Burke presentation.

Bouchercon's Fallback Plans - The Rap Sheet

Today as Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere he heard clapping and cheering outside the Panzermobile. Following all the jocularity took him to The Rap Sheet site. With just a tiny bit of digging in the posts, he found one about Bouchercon. Panzer told you last week about the cancellation of the in-person Bouchercon due to Covid-19 concerns.

 

Can anybody watch?

According to J. Kingston Pierce's post, this year's Bouchercon has been resurrected. It will be a two day event online. There are links included in the post to more information about the convention.

 

Panzer says, "He does say if there's any more news he'll post it."

Singing the Bouchercon Blues - The Rap Sheet

 Panze had hardly laid his head down for his nap when crying and screaming coming from the Catosphere forced him up. Jumping in the Panzermobile, he followed all the noise to The Rap Sheet site. There he discovered news about Mystery Writers of America's (MWA) Bouchercon.

According to J. Kingston Pierce's post, Bouchercon 2021 in New Orleans, Louisiana, has been cancelled due to Covid-19 concerns. The post contains links to more information about the cancellation.

Now back to that nap.

Panzer says, "That Covid thingy just keeps ruining things."

Boucher Con 2020 Online

Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere, when he heard clapping and cheering coming from outside the Panzermobile. Following all the noise took our intrepid traveling kitty to the Bouchercon site.

 

Bouchercon is the Mystery Writers of America's annual convention. Just like many other writers' and publishers/booksellers' conventions this year, Bouchercon will be held online.

 

It's a mystery.

Unlike last weekend's Bloody Scotland (we had so much fun!), Bouchercon is not free to attend.  It is $55 to register for the October 16-17 convention. Registration ends October 4. The site doesn't provide much information about the scheduled speakers/authors or panels. There is a section for the Anthony Awards, where you can read the nominated short stories. There will be no refunds, so be sure you want to attend before signing up.

Once Upon a Crime: A Collaborative Story in Need of a Title - Criminal Element

Panzer was vacuuming the floor mats in the Panzermobile when he noticed a wadded up post under the passenger seat. Flattening it out, he discovered it was a post from the Criminal Element site.

I have a headache.

According to the post from Criminal Element HQ, Criminal Element and Minotaur Books are running a contest to name a short story. The short story was written in collaboration by a group of mystery/crime writers at this year's Bouchercon. Bouchercon is the annual mystery writers and fans convention. All you have to do to enter the contest is read the story (which is included in the post) and post your title in the Comments section. The winner will receive "a mega-bundle of books from all the participating authors" of the story.

Panzer says, "Be sure and read some of the titles others have already posted in the Comments section."

Announcing 2018's Barry Award Nominees - CriminalElement.com

Panzer had just entered the Catosphere today when he heard clapping and cheering. Following all the noise took him to the CriminalElement.com site. There our adventuresome kitty found a post about the Barry Award nominees.

I never get nominated for anything.

According to the post at the CriminalElement.com site, the Deadly Pleasures Mystery Magazine has announced the nominees for the Barry Award. The Award is named for fan and critic Barry Gardner. Only readers of the Deadly Pleasures Mystery Magazine can vote for the awards and only fiction is considered for the awards. The awards will be presented September 6, 2018 at Bouchercon in St. Petersberg, Florida.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... The award nominee season just keeps on going."

Smashwords: 250 Smashwords Crime Fiction Authors Featured at B...

This cat wasn't allowed.

Panzer took a short trip into the Catosphere today. Our busy kitty boy stopped in at the Smashwords blog. After a little digging around he found an interesting post by Smashwords founder Mark Coker for you.

According to Mr. Coker, 250 Smashwords crime fiction authors' books will be available on a thumb drive in each of the "goodies bags" at Bouchercon. Bouchercon is the annual mystery fiction convention for writers and fans.

Panzer says, "No, I'm not included ... but ... I have my own big news for you tomorrow."
