The Short Mystery Fiction Society announced the Derringer Awards winners on May 1.

 

Derringer Awards were given in five fiction categories and one Golden Derringer. The post also includes a link to a list of all the finalists.

At his stop at the Short Mystery Fiction Society Blog Panzer discovered a post with the newly announced finalists for the SMFS Derringer Awards.

 

There are five categories for the Derringers. The categories are Best Flash Fiction, Best Short Story, Best Long Story, Best Novelette and Best Anthology.

 

The winners will be announced May 1.

2025 Derringer Awards Winners - SMFS Blog

Anybody there you know?

Today, the Short Mystery Fiction Society announced on their blog site the winners of the 2025 Derringer Awards.

 

The winner in each of the five categories is listed in the post at the site. At the bottom of the post is a link to the list of the short-listed nominees.

We didn't enter, so we're not on the list. Maybe next year.

If you read on the top of the right side column here, you'll see Mom and Panzer are members of the Short Mystery Fiction Society (SMFS).

 

As the headline above says, the SMFS just announced this year's Derringer finalists. Only members of the SMFS can vote, but the list of finalists can be viewed by anyone. The winner in each of the categories will be announced May 1.

Do you recognize any names? I do.

Today Panzer was shaken from his kitty bed nap by the sound of clapping and cheering coming from the Catosphere. Jumping in the Panzermobile he followed all the jocularity to the Short Mystery Fiction Society site.  There our adventuresome kitty pilot found the announcement of this year's Derringer Award Winners.

The blog lists the four category winners and the Golden Derringer and Hall of Fame winners.

Derringer Awards Finalists - The Short Mystery Fiction Society Blog

Panzer was taking his afternoon nap when his kitty bed was violently shaken by clapping and cheering coming from the Catosphere. Hopping into the Panzermobile, our brave kitty followed all the hoopla to the Short Mystery Fiction Society site. There he found a post about the 2022 Derringer Awards finalists.

 

Now ... to finish that nap.

According to the Short Mystery Fiction Society blog the finalists for the 2022 Derringer Awards have been announced in the Flash Fiction, Short Stories, Long Stories, and Novellettes Length categories.

Sleep is calling my name now.

Panzer here. All of you who've read Mom's author bio. know today is her and What's His Name's wedding anniversary. So I only made a very short trip into the Catosphere to go to the Short Mystery Fiction Society's site. Mom and I are members and we try to keep up on all the information at the blog and on the email list. When I checked in today, I found the list of the 2016 Derringer Award winners. The Derringers are given every year for outstanding short mystery fiction.

That's it for today. Mom and What's His Name are going out to celebrate and I'm going to take a nap. More publishing news tomorrow.
