According to the news post at Radio Ink, Stephen King has decided after nearly forty years of ownership that he will be closing his three radio stations. The post has the history of his ownership of all three and why he's decided to close them.

DPLA, IPG Team Up to Offer Libraries E-book Ownership Option - Publishers Weekly

They're buying the ebooks legally.

On today's trip into the Catosphere Panzer made a stop at the Publishers Weekly site. With a little digging in the posts he found one about library ownership of ebooks.

 

According to the post by Andrew Albanese, the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA)  has reached an agreement with the Independent Publishers Group (IPG) to have the option to purchase ebooks.This would mean instead of renting ebooks for patrons to read the library would own the books with no continuing fees.

 

Panzer says, "This would save libraries a lot of money."

Amazon named among the world's most admired companies for the eighth year in a row by 'Fortune' magazine - About Amazon News

Now, Panzer will be reporting today's news.

 

Amazon is again in the top three most admired companies in the world ranking. In an Amazon staff written post at the Amazon site it's explained that parts of the basis for this ranking are the  company's increase in employee pay and benefits, its involvement in affordable housing and easier pathways to home ownership, and improvements to customer shopping using AI. The post also includes links to information about the criteria.

Bertelsmann seeks partner to buy Penguin Random House - Reuters

It's just something humans do.

Panzer made a trip to the Reuters site today. Digging around there, our inquiring kitty found a new post about book publisher Penguin Random House.

According to the post by Harro Ten Wolde and Arno Schuetze, Penguin Random House majority owner Bertelsmann  (53 percent) is looking for a financial partner to help in a buyout of minority owner Pearson (47 percent). Pearson has not directly stated they intend to sell their ownership, but Bertelsmann wants to be ready in the event they do. Apparently, it will be 2017 before Pearson makes any kind of decision.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... I'll never understand human ownership. You buy something so you can sell it in a couple of years. Cats ... We get it ... We eat it. That's it."
