Book Output Topped Four Million in 2025 - Publishers Daily

I'm not the only little kitty who wants to know.

Panzer's next stop was at the Publishers Daily site. 

 

According to Jim Milliot's post, the number of books published in 2025 jumped to 4 million. The majority of these books were self-published.

 

 Panzer says, "Hmm ... This little kitty wants to know, how many of those were AI slop?"

48 Writing Contests in November 2023 - No entry fees - Publishing ... and Other Forms of Insanity

Panzer made a quick stop at the Publishing ... and Other Forms of Insanity site today. There he found a post about upcoming writing contests in November.

 

Erica Verrillo's post contains a list that includes fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and short story contests, as well as published novel and short story contests. Some of the contests do have entry restrictions, so be sure to read the guidelines.

 

Panzer says, "Some of the contests have November 1 deadlines."

Macmillan publishes a work of fiction - Steve Potash of OverDrive

Today, Panzer decided to make a stop at OverDrive's Steve Potash's blog. OverDrive is the service which lets patrons check out ebooks from the library. The post our traveling kitty boy found is about publisher Macmillan's library embargo. Panzer told you about the library embargo a few days ago.

I don't think this will last very long.

According to founder and CEO of OverDrive Steve Potash, publisher Macmillan's recent statement of the company's reasons for placing an embargo on libraries is total fiction. In the embargo Macmillan won't allow libraries to loan the company's new ebooks until eight weeks after they've been published. In the post each of Macmillan's reasons for the embargo are discussed and shown to be unjustified.

Panzer says, "This little kitty thinks this embargo thingy is pretty silly even for humans."

New Paperback Books Coming

Mom and I have been busy for the last month putting together two new dead tree paperback books. They're called My Kitten Journal and My Cat Journal.

Mom says these are part of "The Healthy Pet Series." I say they're the most important part of the series.

The books have a section for My Cat (or Kitten)'s name, birthday, microchip number, and all that stuff humans worry about. Then there's a section for What I Need For My Cat (or Kitten) like cat food, a litter box, a water dish, and other stuff that makes us happy. Then there's the section Treats For My Cat (or Kitten) which is the toy section! The rest of the book is just stuff about clipping claws, brushing teeth, taking a bath (like that's going to happen), and going to the veterinarian's clinic.

Mom says the books will be in bookstores in few weeks. They'll be at Amazon too.

I know you've been waiting to see the covers ... And ... I've been waiting to show you because Mom let me pick the models for them. What do you think of that lady kitty on My Cat Journal? I think she's pretty cute.
