Penguin Random House Buys F+W Media's Books at Auction - Publishing Perspectives

Panzer was tootling around in the Panzermobile in the Catosphere when he heard crying and whining outside. Following all the noise took our brave kitty to the Publishing Perspectives site. With a little digging in the posts he discovered one about F+W Media's Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

I don't care what they say. It won't be the same.

According to Publishing Perspective's Editor-in-Chief Porter Anderson, Penguin Random House has announced through a press release the company's acquisition of F+W Media's publishing assets through a bankruptcy auction. The publishing assets include F+W Books. F.W Books has over 2,000 nonfiction books which includes Writer's Digest Books as well as other crafts and arts books. Later this week (June 13) will be the auctioning of F+W Communities by the bankruptcy court. This will include the magazines, webinars, and other forms of communications. The post includes a link to an earlier post about F+W Media and links to information about some of F+W's books.

Panzer says, "This little kitty wonders if the writers of all those books will still get their royalties on time?"

F+W Media Files Chapter 11, Will Sell Assets - Publishers Weekly

This is not good news.

Panzer was shaken awake from his afternoon nap by crying and shouting coming from the Catosphere. Hopping in to the Panzermobile our brave kitty headed out to see what had happened. Following all the noise took him to the Publishers Weekly site. With no digging at all he found a post about F+W Media.

According to Jim Milliot, F+W Media has filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. To pay off creditors the company plans to form two sections. One will be its publishing section and the other will be its communities section. Each section will be sold separately, The company believes by doing this it can raise enough money to pay its creditors.

Panzer says,  "But what will happen to Writer's Digest magazine and the Writer's Market? And what about the quilting and beading communities Mom visits?"

My bad boy loves the Indies Unlimited site. In addition to being an indie ebook marketing site, they have great posts. Last week's monthly news roundup by Stephen Hise has information on the news of the Author Solutions-Writer's Digest split situation.  He also has a link for additional news on the Amazon-Hachette dispute.

No whining!

Panzer and I like going to Anne R. Allen's Blog. Anne's blog was given a Writer's Digest Magazine Best Writing Website Award for 2013 because writers always find the most interesting posts there.

Today, when we visited we found a post about social media etiquette. There are 10 Commandments for your good behavior on social media. Anne's commandments include no spamming, no whining, and no badmouthing. There are seven more just as relevant as these listed at the blog.
