Panzer says, Mom has read two of the short stories to me.
Mom has read two of the short stories to me.
Today as Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere the Panzermobile was suddenly shaken by clapping outside. Following all the hullabaloo took our adventuresome kitty boy to the In Reference to Murder site.

There he found a post by site owner BV Lawson about the Malice Domestic Agatha Awards. The post lists the six Agatha categories and the five finalists in each category.

Panzer says, "The winners will be announced at Malice Domestic in April."

Note: The is a short medium length post. Bring a cup of tea to drink while you read the written works' titles and the finalists' names.

These Amazon Category Hacks Can Boost Your Book Sales - David Gaughran's Blog

Panzer was searching in his kitty toy box when he found a misplaced post. Flattening it, he discovered it was from David Gaughran's Blog site.

He knows what he's talking about.
According to David Gaughran's post, Amazon categories are an integral part of your book marketing plan. It's not only important that you pick the right categories initially, but that you go back periodically and make sure those categories are helping your book's sales. The beginning of the post includes a clickable Table of Contents (TOC) so you can move around in the blog post and read what's most relevant to your current needs.

Panzer says, "This should be required reading for every Amazon author."

Note: This is a huge post. Bring a thermos of lemonade, a sandwich, a muffin and two chocolate chip cookies (biscuits) for today's learning lesson.

Amazon Removes Category Strings From Book Listings - The Digital Reader

A cat's work is never finished.
Panzer was cleaning out the Panzermobile today when our fastidious kitty boy found a wadded up post under the passenger seat cushion. Flattening it out he discovered it was a post from The Digital Reader site about Amazon.

According to The Digital Reader site owner Nate Hoffelder, Amazon has made a change to how book categories are displayed in the listings. A long string of categories is no longer displayed for a book. Instead, only the main category is shown. This makes for an easier to read "Product details" description. A sample book listing is included in the post to show what the new category listing looks like.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... We used those category strings on books similar to mine for help in putting my books in the right categories."

Note: This is a short post. Bring half a cup of tea for today's reading selection.

Using Amazon Keywords and Categories

Follow me.
Panzer is posting late today. He spent too much time napping ... and dreaming about chasing birds ... and napping ... and dreaming about chasing mice ... and napping ... and napping. You know, doing all the stuff he's really good at.

But, he did find time to go out in the Catosphere to visit Roz Morris' Nail Your Novel blog.

My very clever boy found a post there about Amazon keywords and  categories. Ms. Morris' post explains how to choose categories and the keywords in them to help readers find your ebook on Amazon.

She also includes one very important don't. Amazon does not allow you to compare your ebook to another writer's work. Amazon will be very upset as Ms. Morris found out.

If you follow the second link in the post to the "Literature and Fiction Keywords" list and discover your ebook doesn't fit into the category, look to the line above the title "Literature and Fiction Keywords" and click on "Select Browse Categories." You'll be taken back to the main list to choose another category for your ebook.

Anne R. Allen's Blog: How to Make the Bestseller Lists: Why Categories a...

Panzer stopped in at his friend Anne R. Allen's Blog. Your intrepid traveler of the Catosphere found a guest post there by Ruth Harris.

Ruth Harris is posting about how to use categories and keywords to get your ebook into the bestseller lists. She explains how to choose the correct categories to increase your ebook's exposure. She also explains how to investigate the keywords that will work best in your niche. You do need to understand, the categories and keywords will get you into the Top 100 for your niche, but that is not a guarantee of the Top 100 in the entire Kindle Store.

My bad boy can tell you how important those category and keyword choices are. His first ebook Cats and Crime has been in the Amazon Top 100 for one, two or three of his three niche categories at least twenty-five days each month since the ebook was uploaded. The screen print above shows his April 24 standing in two of the Top 100 Category Lists.
