CAT WISDOM for humans Available At Amazon Now

Panzer's trip into the Catosphere today took him to Amazon. His newest ebook, CAT WISDOM for humans, is finally available there. (It's been quite an adventure getting it formatted correctly for Amazon!)

CAT WISDOM for humans contains 101 of our big bad kitty boy's Monday dispensations of his catness to you.

And ...

if you've been here long enough, you know why CAT WISDOM is capitalized and for humans is lower case. (Hint: Cats do consider humans an inferior species to them.)

Panzer says, "Don't worry if you have a different e-reader than the Kindle. After a little more formatting magic, CAT WISDOM for humans will  be available at Smashwords and all the other e-retailers in a few days."

Smashwords Introduces New Metadata Option for Box Sets

Can I find enough for a box set?
Panzer was over checking out what's new in the Catosphere. Our big bad investigative kitty reporter likes to stay on top of indie publishing news. so he stopped in at Smashwords today.

According to founder Mark Coker, Smashwords has developed a new option to help authors/publishers bring their box sets to the public's attention and increase their marketability. Smashwords now allows the classification of a box set as part of the publishing process. Until now, there has been no way for e-retailers to know if a publication was a single ebook or a box set. Smashwords' new classification will help e-retailers promote box sets to readers.

Panzer says, "Hmmm. How come nobody else thought of this before?"

Note: Mr. Coker includes instructions for upgrading the classification of a previously published box set as well as new box sets.

More E-Book Price-Fixing Fallout

I promise. Not again.
Okay, Panzer did it again. He promised me he'd stay away from the Publishers Weekly site.

But ...

being a bad boy, he just had to break his promise.

So ...

He found a post there by Andrew Albanese that brings up another court case involving Apple and the big five publishers involved in the original price-fixing case (yes, Hachette Book Group is one of the big five). This case was brought by DNAML, Diesel eBook Store and BooksOnBoard. All three companies are no longer viable and are now suing for compensation.

Judge Denise Cote has ordered the three e-retailers, Apple and the big five publishers into mediation.

(Now, I have the keys to the Panzermobile, so my bad boy isn't going anywhere without me for a week.)

Amazon Doesn't Need Hachette, But Hachette Needs Amazon

Let's take a closer look.
It's been quite a long time since Panzer has stopped in at author and game developer Guido Henkel's blog. When he stopped in there today he found a post addressing the Amazon-Hachette dispute. You know, my bad boy has been following this Internet CATerwauling for a while now.

In his post Mr. Henkel explains why Hachette doesn't understand the changing publishing world. Hachette may be one of the biggest fish in the publishing pond, but it's turning into a very, very small pond. Publishers no longer have the clout to tell book retail outlets what they can and can not do. Amazon is arguably the world's largest book retail outlet and as such there's no incentive for Amazon to bow to Hachette's demands. On the other hand, there is a huge incentive for Hachette to agree to Amazon's and get their books back into the Amazon store.

An Author Bio That Sells Books

Did you know?
Panzer was speeding around the Catosphere today. He was looking for someplace new to visit. He happened to find Ben Zackheim's blog.

My bad boy found a post there about writing your author bio at Amazon and the other e-retailers. The tips in the post include how to fine tune each bio to the specific e-retailer. Turns out we shouldn't use the same bio at Amazon and Barnes and Noble or any of the others. Each gets their own special bio. By tailoring the bio to each e-retailer, you are enhancing your reader appeal and by extension increasing your sales potential.

Panzer says, "I didn't know they were each supposed to be different. I need to make some changes right now!"
