Amazon Autos? This was a total shock to me.

Today, Panzer found this post at the Amazon blog, About Amazon News. Amazon is starting a new auto venture.

According to the staff written post, starting today (December 10) you can buy a new Hyundai online. At Amazon's new Amazon Autos you can do all the browsing, deciding, paperwork, and financing online in the 48 US cities which have Hyundai dealerships in the program.

 

Panzer says, "Hmm ... Buying a new car online."

Authors in the Coronavirus Crisis: The European Writers' Council Report - Publishing Perspectives

As Panzer was taking his afternoon nap he shaken from his kitty bed by crying and shouting coming from the Catosphere. Our brave kitty boy hopped in the Panzermobile to discover the source of the trouble. Following all the noise took him to the Publishing Perspectives site. There he found a post about the plight of writers in the European Union (EU).

According to Porter Anderson's post, writers and translators in the the EU are suffering large uncompensated financial losses. The European Writers' Council just released a report about the financial situation of the 150,000 writers and translators the group represents.

I'm glad I have a second job as a cat.

The financial losses are due to several factors, including changed or cancelled book publication dates, postponed translations, cancelled prizes and grants, cancelled or moved online speaking engagements and other related writing activities from which writers and translators gain financial payments. Unlike other "businesses," freelance writers and translators are not receiving any type of government compensation to replace these losses. Several links to other writing and publishing information are included in the post as well as a link to download a pdf copy of the European Writers' Council's report.

Latest CIPFA stats reveal library numbers still falling - The Bookseller

Panzer was taking his after lunch nap when he was thrown from his kitty bed by crying and shouting coming from the Catosphere. Hopping in the Panzermobile our brave kitty boy followed all the hullabaloo to The Bookseller site. Digging in the posts, he found one about the closing of libraries in the UK.

A post in The Bookseller by Mark Chandler says England, Wales and Scotland's libraries are having financial problems. According to the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) which released statics for the year ending March 2019, 35 libraries closed. Also included is the fact that since 2014 the number of library employees is down by 15.1 percent. As a result libraries are relying more on volunteers whose numbers are up by 24.3 percent. Libraries are also cutting services.

Only 8 days until Christmas.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... Why don't these humans support their libraries?"

Estate Planning For Copyright Owners - Writer's Fun Zone

It's important to plan ahead.

Panzer took a short trip into the Catosphere today. Our big bad kitty boy is still recuperating from his New Years' Eve catnip party. He went to a site he's never been to before called the Writer's Fun Zone and he's happy he did.

On December 16 Panzer told you about the Durable Power of Attorney for Financial Management to protect your money in case you become incapacitated. After digging around at the Writer's Fun Zone he found a guest post by Kelley Way about estate planning to protect your copyrights after your death. This newest post covers three things you can choose among to do before your death to protect your copyrights. Also included are any problems associated with the three ways. It's never too early to start protecting your assets.
