New Barnes & Noble Opens At Totem Lake This Week - Patch

Today Panzer had just entered the Catosphere when the Panzermobile was shaken by clapping and cheering outside. Following all the jocularity took our traveling kitty pilot to the Patch site. There he discovered a post about Barnes and Noble was causing all the excitement.

 

A new bookstore? Are things getting back to normal?

According to the post by Lucas Combos, Barnes and Noble has opened a new bookstore in Kirkland, Washington. The bookstore has children's, YA, adult fiction and nonfiction books and a cafe. Based on the description in the post, the cafe will be the old style Barnes and Noble cafe not the dinner and drinks restaurants introduced more recently. The bookstore opens its doors today (Wednesday, May 26).

 

Panzer says, "Hmm ... Maybe somebody decided a bookstore doesn't need a dinner and drinks restaurant in it."

B&N Cuts Q2 Losses as Comp Sales Improve - Publishers Weekly

I love Thanksgiving.

Panzer is still recovering from Thanksgiving dinner; so, today's trip into the Catosphere was a quick one to the Publishers Weekly site. With a little digging around in the posts our waddling kitty boy found one about Barnes and Noble.

According to Jim Milliot, Barnes and Noble announced the company's sales figures for the second quarter. Compared to the same time frame in 2017 book sales declined by 3 percent, but toys, games and cafe sales increased by 1.9 percent. The company was also able to cut its operating loss nearly in half from $52.2 million to $26.8 million.

Panzer says, "Let's see how they do in the holiday season."

Field Trip: Barnes & Noble at One Loudoun - The Digital Reader

Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to The Digital Reader site. With a little digging our traveling kitty found a post about a new Barnes and Noble store.

Mmm. Tuna. Almost as good as turkey.

According to the post by site owner Nate Hoffelder, he made a visit to the new Barnes and Noble store in Ashburn, Virginia. The store boasts a 17,000 foot size. It contains a cafe/restaurant, a books section and a general merchandise section that includes a small Nook section. In the books section the tables can be moved to create space for an event.

Panzer says, "Inquiring kitties want to know if tuna sandwiches are on the restaurant menu?"

10 kinds of Barnes and Noble cafe customers: Read and laugh - or weep - TeleRead

Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when he heard guffawing and weeping.  Following all the confusing noises took our brave kitty boy to the ReTelead site. There he found a post about Barnes and Noble bookstores and cafes.

Don't forget they've added restaurants too.

According to the post by Chris Kubica, after on-site research he has decided there are ten kinds of customers who frequent Barnes and Noble's cafes. Depending on your level of support for Barnes and Noble bookstores, these cafe customers will either make you laugh or cry. None of these cafe customers from The Never Buy to The WiFi to The Divorced Dad to the seven other kinds will ever buy anything in the Barnes and Noble retail bookstores. So, laugh or cry about them, these are the Barnes and Noble cafe patrons.

Panzer says, " Ummm ... This little kitty can't decide whether his eyes are leaking because he's laughing so hard or because he's so sad."
