Amazon killing a feature that let you download and backup Kindle books - The Verge

 You've got one week to take care of your ebooks.

Panzer stopped in at The Verge site today. There with a little digging in the posts our intrepid kitty traveler found one about an Amazon change to purchasing and downloading ebooks.

 

According to a post by Andrew Liszewski, Amazon is doing away with their feature to download and backup your ebook purchases. You'll need to get your wi-fi set up very soon.

 

Panzer says, "As an Amazon user you should be prepared, because the company  is always changing something."

Blur your home on Maps and erase your data to remove your life from Google's grip - USA Today

 

 

 Today Panzer made a trip to the USA Today site. With a little digging in the posts, our inquisitive kitty found one about deleting Google's data collections about individual users. A few days ago Panzer told you about limiting Amazon's Kindle ereader data collection.

They have all that?

The USA Today's post by Kim Komando explains how to delete the personal data Google has been collecting on you. The post is divided into five sections. Four of the sections explain how to delete various portions of the data collected. There is a section on data collected about your home on Google Maps; one on the data collected about your Google Assistant interactions; one on the data collected about your Google searches; and, finally, one about the data collected about your Chrome use. Each section contains instructions for deleting the data. The fifth section contains instructions about how to receive Alerts about yourself. This is an informative and useful post for anyone who uses Google for anything and you need to read it.

Panzer says, "I'll bet Google Maps even knows where my food dish is."

Note: This is a l-o-n-g post. If you plan to delete all the data Google has collected about you, bring a thermos of tea and twelve muffins.

How to Set Your Google Data to Self-Destruct - The New York Times

They know everything about you.

Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when he heard clapping and cheering outside. Following all the jocularity, our inquisitive kitty found himself at The New York Times site. With no digging at all he found a post about deleting your Google searches.

According to the post by Brian X. Chen, Google has a new feature that allows you to delete your search history. It appears to be a little complicated, so the post includes instructions for how to use the feature. There are screen shots to help explain the instructions. There's also information on deleting your YouTube history and the Google Maps app history.

Panzer says, "There is a lot of information here, but it's worth reading to delete your search history."

Note: This is a h-u-m-o-n-g-o-u-s length post.  Bring a thermos of tea and a dozen muffins and also a glass of milk and three chocolate chip cookies (biscuits) for a snack.

How to Erase Your Google History (Yes, All of it) - The Digital Reader

It looks easy.

Panzer was sitting in the pilot's seat of the Panzermobile when he noticed something stuck under the windshield wiper. Checking outside, our fastidious kitty discovered it was a post from The Digital Reader site about your Google history.

According to The Digital Reader site owner Nate Hoffelder, there's a way to erase your Google history. You can delete your YouTube viewing history, your Google search history, all of it. And the instructions are relatively simple.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... The post says there's a way to keep Google from tracking you too."
