B&N Press Now Offers eBook Coupon Codes - The Digital Reader

Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when he heard clapping and cheering. Following all the hullabaloo took our traveling kitty boy to The Digital Reader site. There with a little digging in the posts he found a one about Barnes and Noble Press.

According to The Digital Reader site owner Nate Hoffelder, Barnes and Noble Press has a new feature in beta. Barnes and Noble now offers publishers coupon codes to sell their ebooks at a discount. Barnes and Noble Press is also making changes to their POD book formatting.

It's catch up time.

Panzer says, "This is a feature Smashwords has offered for several years. Sometimes Mom gives the codes as prizes so winners can get an ebook for free."

Barnes & Noble is Ending Support for the Original Nook eReader - The Digital Reader

Panzer's trip today took him to The Digital Reader site. With no digging at all our forensic kitty found a post about Barnes and Nobles's Nook 1st Edition

According to the post by site owner Nate Hoffelder, Barnes and Noble announced they will no longer support the original 2009 Nook 1st Edition ereader. The announcement was made via an email sent to Nook 1st Edition owners. Effective June 29 ereader owners will no longer be able to sign in or buy new ebooks. Barnes and Noble is offering Nook 1st Edition owners a discount on the Nook Tablet 7 or the Nook Glowlight.

I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... This little kitty is wondering if Barnes and Noble might be making a mistake forcing customers to quit using the Nook 1st Edition and buy a new Nook Tablet 7 or Nook Glowlight."

Amazon's first Washington-area bookstore opens March 13 - The Washington Post

Panzer had hardly entered the Catosphere today when the Panzermobile was buffeted by oohing and aahing. Following all the noise took our brave kitty boy pilot to The Washington Post site. There he found a post about Amazon's newest bookstore.

According to the post by Abha Bhattarai, Amazon just opened there newest bookstore in Washington, D.C. Barnes and Noble closed their Washington, D.C. bookstore in 2011 and, now, Amazon is located in the same building that housed the Barnes and Noble store. Amazon's bookstore has 10,000 square feet of space, so it's not nearly as large as a Barnes and Noble store. The store has over 5,000 books and electronic devices to choose from. The bookstore has the same purchasing setup as their other stores. Amazon Prime members get a discount while non-members pay full price.

Did Amazon really do that?

Panzer says, "Hmm ... Leased space in the same building, huh? This little kitty thinks Amazon just gave a paw swipe in the face to Barnes and Noble."

Smashwords End of Year Sale Starts December 25

Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to the Smashwords blog. Our very good kitty boy got a new Kindle PaperWhite for Christmas. He needs some new ebooks for it and found where to get them at the Smashwords blog.

I need a nap after all those books.

According to Mark Coker's blog post, Smashwords is having an end of the year sale. A large number of Smashwords authors are discounting their ebook prices from 25 percent to 100 percent (free) off. The sale runs from December 25 - January 1. At the Smashwords site on the left side there is a link to go to the ebooks included in the year end sale.

Panzer says, "Time to fill up my new ereader."

Note: The Smashwords site is h-u-g-e. Bring three thermos of tea, two dozen muffins and a sleeping bag for a nap during your search.

Setting The Price Of Your Novel

Just resting before my nap.

Panzer was tootling around the Catosphere just enjoying his Saturday afternoon. Our lazy little kitty made a leisurely visit to The Blog at the Huffington Post site.

Doing a little rolling around in the posts there, he found one by author Kristen Houghton about pricing your novel. There's information in her post for Dead Tree book authors as well as ebook authors. Of course, determining the price for a Dead Tree book is more complicated than for an ebook. For example, the printing costs and discounts for volume purchasers must be taken into account for DT books, but not ebooks.

Panzer says, "I'm glad I don't have to worry about all that extra stuff for my ebooks."
