Kindle will now let you install custom fonts: A how-to - TeleRead

Panzer hasn't been to the TeleRead site for a while, so he decided to stop in there today. It's a good thing our inquisitive kitty did. With no digging at all he discovered a post with an important announcement about the Amazon Kindle ereader.

According to the post by David Rothman, there's a long overdue improvement for the Kindle ereader. Amazon now allows the download of custom fonts to their ereaders. The post uses a screenshot from a Kindle Paperwhite as an example, but other ereaders have the same capability now. The post includes a link for the update. If you don't know what generation of ereader you have, there's also a link included to determine which it is. There are instructions for an update for older ereaders as well at the Amazon site. Some updates need to be downloaded manually, so it's important to check the site to make sure your Kindle continues to work.

Her Kindle is way older than me.

Panzer says, "This little kitty can hardly believe it. We followed the links and found out Mom has a third generation Kindle. She got it as a gift when it was brand new. It's so old she can't download new fonts to it. Lucky for her she has got a new Paperwhite for Christmas."

Kindle for PC 1.23.1 Adds New Font Options, Multi-Column Option - The Digital Reader

Panzer's trip into the Catosphere today took him to The Digital Reader site. With a little digging around our traveling kitty found a post about the new update for the Kindle for PC app.

According to The Digital Reader site owner Nate Hoffelder's post, Amazon's Kindle for PC update has added six new fonts, an image viewer, math equations, and a multi-columns feature. Included in the post is a screen shot of the multi-column feature, showing three columns across the computer screen. The Changelog at the end of the post includes the app changes with descriptions of the features. There's also a link to the Kindle for PC update.

Now, where did I put her Tablet.

Panzer says, "Guess I better update Mom's tablet."

What Is Your Brand?

Panzer and I went out into the Catoshere (read our October 19 post) today. We couldn't pass up Cheryl Bradshaw's A Place for Aspiring Writers of Fiction blog. We parked the Panzermobile to take a look around.

Cheryl has a great post about formatting your brand. It's her opinion that your name is your brand.

She has several book covers as examples of how authors have used their names as their brand. There are covers with different fonts and font sizes for book titles and the author's name. According to Cheryl your name should be the same size or larger than the title.
