Amazon raises price on Kindle Unlimited subscription - The eBook Evangelist

Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to The eBook Evangelist* site.
 
The cost of everything is going up.
According to Glinda Harrison's post, Amazon is raising the Kindle Unlimited monthly subscription fee unless you buy a six months or twelve months subscription. The post includes links to the KU site.
 
Panzer says, "Hmm ... How many ebooks would you need to read each month to justify paying the increase?"

BiblioBoard, PW's BookLife Launch New Library E-book Program for Self-Published Authors - Publishers Weekly

 Yesterday, Panzer told you about Publishers Weekly's plan's for the US Book Show in May. Today, our busy news-gatherer kitty found an announcement at Publishers Weekly about the company's entrance into the ebooks for libraries market.
 
How much is the fee?
According to a post at the site by the staff, Publishers Weekly's BookLife has formed a partnership with BiblioBoard to start a new program called BookLife Elite. Libraries will pay a subscription fee to get access to BookLife Elite's curated self-published ebooks. BookLife Elite is already available on OverDrive. The post includes several links to information about BookLife, BiblioBoard, authors' books in the program,  and contact persons.
 
Panzer says, "This little kitty wonders if, maybe, they're growing too fast in too many different directions at once."

Amazon Launches Kids' Subscription Service - Publishers Weekly (PW)

Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when he heard clapping. Following the noise took our kitty pilot to the Publishers Weekly (PW) site. There he found a post about Amazon's new children's book subscription service.

According to the post by Jim Milliot, Amazon has begun a new book subscription service for children. Called Prime Book Box it's available to Prime Members. The service is for the children's age groups of two years and younger and three years to twelve years. Amazon Books editors will pick the month's books based on the child's age. There is a monthly subscription fee. The post also includes book choice information, subscription frequency and subscription fee cost.

Books are meant to be read.
Panzer says, "Hmm ... Start children reading early ... Makes sense to this little kitty."

Amazon launches self-service subscription marketplace - Talking New Media

Panzer made a quick trip into the Catosphere today. Our speedy kitty boy stopped in at the Talking New Media site. There he found a post about a new service Amazon is offering.

Is there anything Amazon can't do?
According to the post by D.B. Hebbard, Amazon is now offering a new digital subscription service sales platform. Digital subscription providers can sign up for the new Subscribe with Amazon service. Subscription providers will receive 70 percent of the subscription fee for the first year and 85 percent if the subscription is renewed after the first year. The post includes a copy of Amazon's press release and the link to sign up for the service.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... This kitty wonders if Mom could sell subscriptions to this blog?"

Libro.fm Launches Audiobook Subscriptions - The Digital Reader

A kitty's work is never done.
Panzer was sweeping out the Panzermobile when he notice a post stuffed under the passenger seat. Flattening it out, our fastidious kitty discovered it was a post from The Digital Reader site about Libro.fm.

According to the post by The Digital Reader site owner Nate Hoffelder, audiobook seller Libro.fm has announced a new audiobook subscription service. The subscriptions will be $15.00 ($14.99) per month. The post includes a link to the Libro.fm site which includes information not included in Mr. Hoffelder's post. The $14.99 membership/subscription fee allows the reader one audiobook for the month, then each additional audiobook is 30 per cent off the regular price from their 70,000 audiobook inventory. Currently, the first month's signup fee is $0.99 to "try out" the service. You can cancel the service at any time. The service is only available in the U.S. and Canada.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... I'd like to see the whole list of audiobooks first. And as always, read everything carefully."

Amazon reinvents the children's book: New Rapids app shows stories in the style of a messaging app - Daily Mail.com

Today, Panzer made a very long trip in the Catosphere to the DailyMail.com site. There our kitty pilot found news about Amazon's new app Rapids.

Whew! That was a long read.
According to the post by Stacy Liberatore, Amazon has a new app called Rapids. The app is exclusively for children 7 through 12 years old. The stories for the app are put together with the characters texting back and forth. There are already hundreds of stories available for Rapids. The subscription price is $2.99 a month with an annual fee also available. Sample screen shots and a video accompany the post.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... Now where did I put Mom's credit card?"
