Panzer made a quick trip to The Rap Sheet site today. There our traveling kitty pilot found a post about the British Crime Writers Association (CWA) and the Dagger Awards.

 

J. Kingston Pierce's post lists the winners of the Dagger Awards which were present on July 3. In addition to the winners those also nominated are included.

 

Panzer says, "It must have been an entertaining dinner presenting the awards."

Bagging Daggers - The Rap Sheet

Today, Panzer went to The Rap Sheet site. There he found a post about the UK's Crime Writers' Association's (CWA) Dagger Awards.

How many of them have you read?

According to the post by J. Kingston Pierce, the Crime Writers' Association has announced the 2022 CWA Dagger Awards. There are ten Dagger categories which include nonfiction books, novels, debut novels, and short stories. The Rap Sheet post lists all the winners and the also nominated contenders. The post includes a link to a longer post at the Shots site which has more information about the awards.

 

Panzer says, "The CWA is really, really old. It was started in the mid-1950s!"

CWA Opens Membership to Self-Published Authors - CWA

As Panzer was tootling around in the  Catosphere today, he heard clapping and cheering outside the Panzermobile. Following all the happy noise took him to the Crime Writers' Association's CWA site. There with no digging at all he found a post about a membership change.

 

It's about time.

The post explains the Crime Writers' Association's (CWA) membership change. After a vote by CWA members which passed by 85 percent, self-published authors will now be accepted as members. Self-published authors can apply for membership beginning September 13.

 
Panzer says, "Another writers' organization joins the ranks and is accepting self-published authors."

CWA Dagger Award Winners 2021 - Mystery Fanfare

 Today Panzer made a stop at the Mystery Fanfare site. With a little digging in the posts our inquisitive kitty found one about the Crime Writers Association's Dagger Awards

 

Those daggers are sharp.

According to site owner Janet Rudolph's post, the Dagger Awards winners were announced July 1 by the UK's Crime Writers Association (CWA) There were eleven Daggers awarded for novels by authors both new and old, for short stories, for publishers, for translations, for libraries, and for lifetime achievement. The post includes a link to the CWA site where you can download the press release.

 

Panzer says, "It must have taken a lot of reading to get it down to one winner in each category."

2021 CWA Dagger Awards Shortlists - Mystery Fanfare

 Panzer stopped in at the Mystery Fanfare site today. There he found the Crime Writers' Association's (CWA) Dagger shortlists.

 

According to the post by Janet Rudolph, the Crime Writers' Association announced the shortlists nominees for this year's Dagger Awards. There are 9 shortlists. There are Dagger Awards available for short stories, nonfiction, publishers, historical, translations, and new authors. There are gold daggers and steel daggers and even a library dagger.

Anybody on the lists you know?

 

Panzer says, "There sure are a lot of crime writers on those shortlists."

CWA Margery Allingham Short Mystery Competition - Shots Crime and Thriller Ezine

 

Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to the Shots Crime and Thriller Ezine site. There our inquisitive kitty found a post about a short story mystery competition being sponsored by the Crime Writers' Association (CWA).

 

Can cats enter?  The rules don't say.

According to the post by Oyo Onatade, the CWA Margery Allingham Short Mystery Competition is open for submissions now. The short story mystery entries must be no more than 3500 words and unpublished. Entries must be submitted by February 26, 2021. There is an entry fee. The post includes a link to the CWA's site with all the rules and how to submit.

Panzer says, "The rules say this is an international competition."
