Rakuten Kobo Releases First Color E Ink Reader - Publishers Weekly

Exciting news.

Today, Panzer was shaken from his nap in his kitty bed by clapping and cheering coming from the Catosphere. Our brave kitty pilot jumped in the Panzermobile and set out on his adventure. Following all the joyous noise took him to the Publishers Weekly site. There he discovered news about Kobo was causing the uproar.

 

According to Andrew Albanese's post, Kobo has announced the upcoming sale of the first color E Ink readers. Kobo has two color readers available for pre-order now. The post includes links to the readers specifications.

Panzer says, "Two color readers available at once."

Onyx BOOX Mira 13.3 inch portable E Ink monitor now available for $800 - liliputing

Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to the liliputing site. There with a little digging in the posts our inquisitive kitty boy found one about the Onyx BOOX Mira monitor.

 

According to Brad Linder's post, the monitor is now available for $800. It features a 13.3 inch E Ink screen. It's a portable touchscreen which leans on a stand. The post includes several photos of the monitor. There's also a YouTube video at the end of the post. The post also includes a link to information about the monitor and another link to a competitor's monitor and a third link to purchase the Mira monitor.

 

$800 buys a lot of kitty food.

Panzer says, "With a price like that this little kitty doesn't think Mom will be getting one for her birthday this year."

Panzer's trip into the Catosphere today was a quick one. Stopping in at the Wired site, our speedy kitty pilot found a post about Amazon and the Kindle.

The post by David Pierce follows the Amazon Kindle from its past, through the present and into the future. The post opens with a history of the Kindle's birth in 2007. It then moves on to E Ink technology. The post continues following Amazon, Kindle and the ereader experience into the future to show the possibilities for customers.

Panzer says, "Umm ... This little kitty didn't know Amazon would be looking at a Kindle he could pick up, roll up, let it go, and then chase it around the living room."

Onyx Boox Max Carta eReader

Today as Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere he happened to hear some mumbling and grumbling ahead of the Panzermobile. Following the noises took our brave kitty to the liliputing site. With a little digging he discovered a post about the Onyx Boox Max Carta.

With a large screen it looks interesting.

According to the post by Brad Linder, the upgrade for the Onyx Boox Max is out. The new Onyx Boox Max Carta offers an E Ink Carta 2000 x 1650 pixel display offering a higher resolution display than the Onyx Boox Max. The device also has a 13.3 inch screen making it one of only three large screen ereaders. Currently, the ereader is only available in Germany and China. There are several other features discussed in the post.
