Amazon is ending support for Kindle devices from 2012 and earlier - liliputing

Just like computers. You have to buy a new one.

Panzer was traveling around in the Catosphere when the Panzermobile was suddenly buffeted and shaken by crying and moaning outside. Following all the angst took our brave kitty boy to the liliputing site. There he discovered Amazon was the cause of the problems.

 

According to Brad Linder's post, Amazon is stopping all support for any Kindle devices made in 2012 or older. This means the devices will no longer work with the Kindle store.

 

Panzer says, "This little kitty better get all 5,000 ebooks he bought downloaded on his Kindle NOW."

Kobo's 2024 eReaders are user repairable - liliputing*

I think my claws would get in the way trying to fix it.

Today's trip in the Catosphere took Panzer to the Liliputing site. There our inquisitive kitty boy found a post about Kobo eReaders.

 

Brad Linder's post explains about Kobo's new user repairable eReaders. The post lists the eReaders which are user repairable and the countries/regions where user repairs are supported. The option appears to be primarily for eReaders which are no longer under warranty.

Amazon Kindles now support EPUB Books (sort of), but MOBI and AZW support is ending in 2022 - liliputing

Panzer made a quick stop at the liliputing site today. With just a little digging in the posts our busy kitty boy found one about Amazon and EPUB formatted ebooks.

 

According to Brad Linder's post, Amazon now allows Kindle and Kindle app users to load EPUB ebooks to their devices. The post includes a list of all the formats Amazon currently supports for ebooks and documents to load on Kindle devices. Also included in the post are instructions about how to load the EPUB ebooks and the other formatted ebooks and documents on to the Kindle and Kindle apps.

 

Not good. Mom has a lot of mobi ebooks.

Panzer says, "Amazon is doing away with support for the MOBI and AZW formats this year. That means those formats can't be loaded on Kindle devices or the Kindle app after the support ends."

B&N NOOK Glowlight 4 eReader coming December 8 for $150 - lilyputing

 Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to the lilyputing site. With a little digging in the posts our intrepid kitty traveler found one about Barnes and Noble's new NOOK Glowlight 4.

 

This is worth looking into.

According to the post by Brad Linder, the new NOOK Glowlight 4 is available today. The Glowlight 4 comes with page-turner buttons, a USB-C charger and 32 GB of storage among other features. The post includes a link to Barnes and Noble's original press release about the ereader and also has links to other posts containing information about previous Glowlight versions.

Onyx BOOX Mira 13.3 inch portable E Ink monitor now available for $800 - liliputing

Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to the liliputing site. There with a little digging in the posts our inquisitive kitty boy found one about the Onyx BOOX Mira monitor.

 

According to Brad Linder's post, the monitor is now available for $800. It features a 13.3 inch E Ink screen. It's a portable touchscreen which leans on a stand. The post includes several photos of the monitor. There's also a YouTube video at the end of the post. The post also includes a link to information about the monitor and another link to a competitor's monitor and a third link to purchase the Mira monitor.

 

$800 buys a lot of kitty food.

Panzer says, "With a price like that this little kitty doesn't think Mom will be getting one for her birthday this year."

Pocketbook's 9.7 inch InkPad Lite eReader coming this fall (likely for under $300) - liliputing

Panzer made a trip to the liliputing site today. There our intrepid kitty traveler found a post about Pocketbook's new ereader.

 

According to Brad Linder's post, Pocketbook will debut it's new InkPad Lite in the autumn/fall of this year. The InkPad Lite will have a 9.7 inch screen and will support WiFi4, 19 ebook formats and include some preloaded apps. The post also includes the ereader's other specs. Several illustrations are contained in the middle of the post. The price will be $299 (US). After the end of the post there are two links to sites for more information. Christmas isn't that far away.

Amazon's old Kindle 3G devices will lose internet access in December - Liliputing

 Today, Panzer was shaken from his nap on the back of the couch by crying and screaming coming from the Catosphere. Hopping in the Panzermobile,, our brave kitty boy followed all the chaos to the Liliputing site. There he found a post about Amazon Kindles.

 

Let's see what happens.

According to Brad Linder's post, Amazon is notifying owners of its older Kindles that the devices won't connect to the internet after December. The older Kindles use the 3G network which is being shutdown. The post lists the Kindle devises which are affected.The post contains links to information about the 3G shutdown and links to new Kindle device pages at the Amazon store.

 

Panzer says, "Hmm ... Mom gave What's His Name her old Kindle. I wonder if he's going to lose internet access."

Onyx Boox Max Carta eReader

Today as Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere he happened to hear some mumbling and grumbling ahead of the Panzermobile. Following the noises took our brave kitty to the liliputing site. With a little digging he discovered a post about the Onyx Boox Max Carta.

With a large screen it looks interesting.

According to the post by Brad Linder, the upgrade for the Onyx Boox Max is out. The new Onyx Boox Max Carta offers an E Ink Carta 2000 x 1650 pixel display offering a higher resolution display than the Onyx Boox Max. The device also has a 13.3 inch screen making it one of only three large screen ereaders. Currently, the ereader is only available in Germany and China. There are several other features discussed in the post.
