SF Author W. Bradford Smith Fund Raiser

This post will be a little different.

 

SF author W. Bradford Smith (aka Orrin Jason Bradford) is battling cancer. Because the alternative treatment he's receiving isn't covered by his insurance, he has to pay for it himself. A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money to help cover his medical expenses.

He also has a site set up where you can purchase his ebooks directly from him, if you're more comfortable with that instead of GoFundMe. He also has other ways to donate available on that page.

Fantasy Author Brandan Barr

 Panzer and I got some bad news today.

We received fantasy author Brandan Barr email newsletter this morning. The leukemia he has been fighting for the past few years has returned. His doctors have informed him there is no further treatment available and he only has a few weeks to a couple of months left to live.

Over the last few years even while battling cancer and the effects of his treatments Brandon continued to write his novels. Author friends have now stepped in to help him finish the last two novels in his series which were already outlined and begun. Another of his novels is being fast-tracked so he can see it come out in November.

Brandon is married and has three young children.  A GoFundMe page with more information about Brandon and his family has been setup for his wife and children.

As regular followers of Panzer's adventures in the Catosphere you know our big bad kitty reports on all things indie related. Today, he's letting you know about a former indie e-zine editor/publisher who needs help.

Former FMAM publisher Babs Lakey is in danger of losing her home and has started a GoFundMe campaign. Even if you can't help financially, you can help by spreading the word through your Twitter and/or Facebook accounts with links to her GoFundMe page.

When Panzer was still a kitten and first dipping his toes into the publishing world, he was a finalist in one of Babs' writing contests. Without that validation of his work, there might not be a Cats and Crime today, so there's a special place in his kitty heart for the lady. There are probably many other stories like our kitty boy's because she's done much for the writing community over the years.
