Coronavirus Worklife: 'France Creative' and Italian Publishers Speak Out for Bookstores - Publishing Perspectives

 Today as Panzer entered the Catosphere the Panzermobile hit a headwind of crying and a screaming. Following all the chaos took our brave kitty pilot to the Publishing Perspectives site. There he discovered a post about European lockdowns and bookstores was causing all the angst.

 

I think books are essential.

The post by Porter Anderson describes efforts by French publishers and other organizations to convince the country's government to allow bookstores to remain open during the current Covid-19 lockdown. The publishers' group issued a statement requesting that during France's lockdown bookstores be allowed to open for cultural purposes. The statement also notes that other countries have designated bookstores as essential businesses. The Publishing Perspective post also includes information about Italy's lockdown's impact on books and bookstores in that country. There are links included to other posts with information about lockdowns.

 

Panzer says, "Included in the French publishers' statement is a reference to Amazon too. This little kitty isn't saying any more about that. You'll have to read the post to find out what it says."

Coronavirus: Germay Is To Follow Italy in Potential Bookstore Openings - Publishing Perspectives

Today, Panzer made a quick stop at the Publishing Perspective site. There with some digging in the posts he found one about the limited re-opening of Germany's bookstores.

According to a post by Porter Anderson, Germany is easing coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions by allowing small bookstores to open again. There are some restrictions on the bookstore patrons, such as social distancing will still be in place in the store. Germany is following Italy's relaxing of restrictions on bookstores.

Panzer says, "This is also a report about Covid-19 in Europe; so other news continues after the German bookstore announcement."

Storytel now live in Turkey. Italy launch imminent and Bulgaria launch soon - The New Publishing Standard

Storytel is everywhere.

Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to The New Publishing Standard site. There our little kitty boy found a post about Storytel.

According Mike Williams, Storytel recently opened their newest audio book store in Turkey. The Turkey store joins Storytel's other 11 stores, located in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, India, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, and United Arab Emirates. Speculation is that Storytel's next two stores will open in Italy and Bulgaria.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... It looks like Storytel is taking over the European audio book market."

Storytel goes the TV route to promote audiobooks in Spain - The New Publishing Standard

Panzer had hardly settled down for a nap when he was shaken out of his kitty bed by clapping and oohing. Hopping into the Panzermobile our speedy kitty was at The New Publishing Standard site in no time at all. There he found a post about Storytel's Spanish audio book marketing. Back in December Panzer told you about Storytel's marketing expansion in Italy.

According to site owner Mark Williams, to increase their audio book subscriber base Storytel is advertising on television in Spain. The post contains translated quotes from Storytel that the advertisements are working as expected with an increase in new subscribers.

Panzer says, "Umm ... Sounds like Storytel outflanked Audible again."

Kobo Self-Publishing In France, Germany and Italy

Europe, here I come.

Panzer was out in the Catosphere today and he found a site called Publishing Perspectives.

My big bad kitty adventurer found a post by Olivia Snaije about Kobo in Europe. Ms. Snaije addresses Kobo's efforts to help self-publishing authors in France, Germany and Italy achieve success. According to the post, Kobo helps authors understand the importance of marketing and advertising. They also work with authors who have their work translated with marketing using their Kobo Next page.

Panzer says, "Makes me wish I was a European kitty so I could get all that extra help."
