ITW Thriller Award Winners 2021 - Mystery Fanfare

Today, when Panzer got back from the Catosphere, our fastidious kitty boy decided to do some work on the Panzermobile. As he was cleaning out the wheel wells, he found a wadded up post stuck in there. Flattening it out, he discovered it was about the International Thriller Writers winners.

 

Finally ... Nap time ... zzzz

According to the post at the Mystery Fanfare site, the 2021 International Thriller Writers Awards have been announced. There are six awards covering best hardback novel, best first novel, best paperback novel, best short story, best young adult novel, and best ebook novel. All six winners are listed in the post.

 

Panzer says, "Even if I live to be twenty, I'll never finish my To-Be-Read pile."

NPD BookScan: US Market sees 6.4 Percent Growth Through Third Quarter - Publishing Perspectives

 As Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere, he heard clapping and cheering coming from outside the Panzermobile. Following all the happiness, took our intrepid kitty traveler to the Publishing Perspectives site. With a little digging in the posts there he found one about U.S. book sales.

That's a lot of books.

According to the post by Porter Anderson, BookScan showed U.S. book sales through the 2020 third quarter increased 6.4 percent over the same time period in 2019. BookScan's sales report was based on the combined adult, children and YA print books and ebooks sales. The post includes a breakdown of sales in each category.

 

Panzer says, "Hmm. A lot of people in the U.S. must have been buying print books online."

Free Audible Audiobooks During Covid-19 Outbreak

They can read a story to me.

Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when he heard clapping and cheering outside the Panzermobile. It's been a while since he's heard anything happy so he decided to follow the jocularity. Our inquisitive kitty boy discovered it was at the Audible site.

Audible is making some children's, young adult and classic audio books available for free. The audio stories will be free as long as schools are closed due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. The audios are available in six languages, including English, French, German, Italian and two more. There's no signup needed. Just find an audio book you like, click on it and click to listen. So, if you're looking for entertainment for your children or yourself (if you like the classics), here's your chance.

HarperCollins Launches YA Novel on Snapchat - Publishers Weekly

Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when he decided to make a stop at the Publishers Weekly site. With a little digging around our inquisitive kitty boy found a post about HarperCollins and Snapchat.

According to Emma Kantor, HarperCollins and Snapchap have joined forces on a new project under Snap Originals. The first book in the new endeavor is the YA novel The Dead Girls Detective Agency. The novel will be delivered to phones during fifteen episodes. Each episode will be 5 minutes long. In the fifteen episodes heroine Charlotte Feldman must find her murderer. Plans are for more Snapchat projects. The post includes a link to Snap Originals.

It's a small screen, but I can see it.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... A whole novel on a phone screen?"
