Print Book Sales Flat in First Half of 2026 - Publishers Weekly

Contains a link to a post about print book sales in 2026.
The industry needs a big bestseller.
Panzer made a stop at the Publishers Weekly site today.

There our traveling kitty found a post about print book sales. Compared  salesto the first half of 2025 this year's sales are flat. The print book sales figure is based on the adult and children's fiction and nonfiction total.

Panzer says, "The post includes a 2025 vs 2026 chart and a 2026 best seller chart."

Note: Because of the charts this is a long medium length post. Bring a glass of milk and two sugar cookies to snack on.

NPD BookScan: US Market sees 6.4 Percent Growth Through Third Quarter - Publishing Perspectives

As Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere, he heard clapping and cheering coming from outside the Panzermobile. Following all the happiness, took our intrepid kitty traveler to the Publishing Perspectives site. With a little digging in the posts there he found one about U.S. book sales.

That's a lot of books.
According to the post by Porter Anderson, BookScan showed U.S. book sales through the 2020 third quarter increased 6.4 percent over the same time period in 2019. BookScan's sales report was based on the combined adult, children and YA print books and ebooks sales. The post includes a breakdown of sales in each category.

Panzer says, "Hmm. A lot of people in the U.S. must have been buying print books online."

Note: The is a long post. Bring a thermos of tea and six muffins for today's reading selection.

Print Unit Sales Rose 10.1% Last Week - Publishers Weekly

Panzer decided to make a stop at the Publishers Weekly site today. With hardly any digging in the posts at all our inquisitive kitty boy found a post about print book sales.

According to Jim Milliot's post, BookScan reports that based on information submitted to them by publishers weekly book sales increased by 10.1 percent between the week ending April 18 and the one ending April 27. The sales figures showed gains in adult fiction and adult nonfiction. The sales figures don't cover all book sales, however. because BookScan only collects information from approximately 85 percent of publishers and also doesn't collect information on book sales to libraries.
I'm just curious.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... It's interesting ... But ... This little kitty wonders ... With only 85 percent of the publishers' information ... Does really BookSpan really have all the information needed to make the conclusion about book sales increases?"

Note: This is a short-medium length post. Bring a cup of tea and a muffin for your reading today.

Free Audible Audiobooks During Covid-19 Outbreak

They can read a story to me.
Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when he heard clapping and cheering outside the Panzermobile. It's been a while since he's heard anything happy so he decided to follow the jocularity. Our inquisitive kitty boy discovered it was at the Audible site.

Audible is making some children's, young adult and classic audio books available for free. The audio stories will be free as long as schools are closed due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. The audios are available in six languages, including English, French, German, Italian and two more. There's no signup needed. Just find an audio book you like, click on it and click to listen. So, if you're looking for entertainment for your children or yourself (if you like the classics), here's your chance.

Print is Doing So Great at Surviving eBooks That Print Sales Fell 3% in Canada in 2017 - The Digital Reader

Panzer's trip into the Catosphere today took him to The Digital Reader site. There our traveling kitty pilot found a post about Canadian print book sales in 2017.

According to The Digital Reader site owner Nate Hoffelder, BookNet Canada just released the 2017 print book sales report. Based on BookNet Canada's collected data print book sales are down by 3 percent compared to 2016. While non-fiction and fiction were both down, juvenile books were up. There's a link at the end of the post to the BookNet Canada site for more information on the sales report.

Hmm ... I can do children's books.
Panzer says, "Hmm ... If juvenile print book sales are up, maybe this little kitty needs to start working on some juvenile books."

Note: This is a short-medium post. Bring a cup of cocoa, a muffin and a chocolate chip cookie (biscuit) for today's reading selection.

Print Units Up 3% in First Half of 2017 - Publishers Weekly

Print book are up. Ebooks are down.
Today, Panzer made a quick trip into the Catosphere to go to the Publishers Weekly (PW) site. There he found a post about print book sales.

The Publishers Weekly post quotes information supplied from BookScan about print books sales during the first six months of 2017. The BookScan information was based on the combined print book sales of juvenile fiction and nonfiction and adult fiction and nonfiction. Although juvenile fiction and nonfiction sales outpaced adult fiction and nonfiction, all four had a combined increase of 3 percent during that time period over the same period in 2016.

Panzer says, "Print book sales are up? Hmm ...  Cat Wisdom for humans was just published in paperback. This kitty hopes that's good for sales."

Note: This is a short post. Bring a cup of tea for today's reading selection.
