According to the post by Ed Nawotka, Spotify has reported 1 million subscribers to the new Audiobooks+ Add-On. There are several links to other information about this Add-On included in the post.

Can BookBeat Rival Storytel in Sweden? - Publishing Perspectives

Interesting revenue chart.

Today Panzer found a post at the Publishing Perspectives site about BookBeat and Storytel.

 

The post addresses if BookBeat's growth in Sweden will allow the company to reach an equal size to Storytel. It also addresses what kind of impact Spotify's entry into the audiobook market will have on the two, if any. The post includes a revenue comparison chart from 1016 to 2025 for BookBeat and Storytel.

According to Ed Nawotka's  post, Spotify is opening in the German-speaking market today. The expansion won't be limited to Germany, but will instead be opening in German-speaking countries.

Today at the Publishing Perspectives site Panzer discovered Spotify just announced the company's 4th Quarter results. 

According to Porter Anderson's post, the company also announced their audiobook distribution partnership agreements with Crooked Lane and Podium Entertainment. Spotify Adds 1,000 Audiobooks from 100 Publishers Distributed by Ingram - Publishers Weekly

Authors should always ask about rights and pay first.

Today, our speedy kitty pilot Panzer made a trip to the Publishers Weekly site. There with just a tiny bit of digging in the posts, he found one about Spotify.

 

According to Ed Nawotka's post, Spotify has added 1,000 audiobooks from its partner Ingram's distribution catalog to the company's Premium list. Spotify says the company wants to help small and independent publishers and authors find a wider audience.

 

Panzer says, "This little kitty wants to know how much the authors will be paid for the new Ingram Spotify partnership."

Another increase?

Today Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when the Panzermobile was buffeted by booing and hissing outside. Following all the noise, took our brave kitty boy to The Verge site.There he found a post about Spotify.

 

The post by Chris Welch quotes from a report by Bloomberg that Spotify will be increasing their prices beginning the end of April in certain countries. The increase will be for Spotify's audiobook listeners.

UK's Society of Authors: More Clarity in Spotify Terms - Publishing Perspectives

It just keeps spreading.

Today Panzer made a stop at the Publishing Perspectives site. There he found a post about Findaway Voices and Spotify's Terms of Use. Your favorite traveling kitty told you about the Findaway Voices and Spotify Terms of Use (TOU) upset explained in the Writer Beware (R) post on Tuesday.

 

Porter Anderson's Publishing Perspectives post explains the UK's Society of Authors take on that same Terms of Use. Specifically, the Society wants more clarity and assurance about AI training and also that authors' work won't be used without permission. The post includes the Society's itemized list of what needs to be clarified and or agreed to.

 

Panzer says, "This little kitty thinks this AI training use of writers work without permission is starting to sound like the Internet Archive lawsuit. You know how that ended."

Outrage Over New Terms of Use at Findaway Voices Forces Change - Writer Beware(R)

This is a follow-up post about an earlier problem with writers/creators losing right to stop AI from "learning" their works through Findaway Voices' Terms of Use.

 

In her post Victoria Strauss does a deep dive into the Findaway Voices' Terms of Use (TOU). She explains different sections of TOU which have been changed and why. There are also details about areas which are still a little confusing and could be better clarified. The post includes links to other earlier posts and to information about Findaway Voices.

This will be interesting to watch.

According to Porter Anderson's post, Spotify has announced the opening of the company's 'Audiobooks in Premium' feature in the UK and Australia. Spotify Premium holders there will now have 15 hours of audiobook reading time each month. Spotify plans to have the feature available in the US later this year.

Just wondering.

According to the post by Amrita Khalid, Findaway has announced it will no longer charge a distribution fee to indie authors who use Finaway Voices to upload their audiobooks to Spotify and make sales there. The post includes a link to the original Findaway announcement.

Spotify Opens Its US Audiobooks Offer: 300,000 Titles - Publishing Perspectives

Today's trip into the Catosphere took Panzer to the Publishing Perspectives site. There with a little digging in the posts he found one about Spotify. Earlier this year Panzer told you about Spotify getting into audiobooks through Findaway.

 

I want to see how this works out.

According to Porter Anderson's post, audiobooks are now available through Spotify in the U.S. Spotify's new service isn't a subscription service but, instead, the audiobooks are available for sale individually to listeners. According to Spotify they have 300,000 audiobooks available.

 

Panzer says, "Last year after Draft to Digital (D2D) acquired Smashwords, D2D sold Findaway (and Findaway's audiobooks catalog) to Spotify."
