Authors Upset Over Goodreads Bugs - Publishers Weekly

Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when he heard crying and shouting coming from outside the Panzermobile. Following all the noise, took our brave kitty boy to the Publishers Weekly site. With hardly any digging at all he discovered a post about Goodreads was causing all the upset.

According to the post by Michael Seidlinger, authors' reader book reviews and star ratings are disappearing from their ebooks on Goodreads. Goodreads workers acknowledge there's a problem with the disappearances. They are working on resolving it, but there's no date for when it will be fixed. Some authors, however, have been able to complain directly and have had their reviews and star ratings returned. Goodreads is owned by Amazon.
Inquiring kitties want to know.

Panzer says, "It would be interesting to know if the disappearances are only in one genre or spread out everywhere."

Note: This is a medium length post. Bring a cup of tea and a muffin for today's reading selection.

Amazon Disappearing Reviews: The Surprising Reason Why Book Reviews are Getting Pulled (and how to fix it) - Author Marketing Experts

I am so tired.
Panzer is recovering from last night's Independence Day fireworks show. His trip into the Catosphere was a quick stop at the Author Marketing Experts site. There our poor tired kitty found a post about Amazon reviews.

According to Penny Sansevieri, if you notice some of your book reviews being taken down, it's due to Amazon's robotic algorithms. Being a robot, it flags reviews for reasons we human authors don't know or understand; but, the post offers some suggestions for possible fixes. A means to clean up how an author asks for reviews using URLs is explained. Also, included is the proper wording reviewers should use to avoid review take-downs. There are other suggestions included in the post to stop the Amazon attack bots. Be sure to read the Comments section too.

Panzer says, "This little kitty didn't know URLs were so important."

Note: This is a l-o-n-g post. Bring a thermos of tea and half a dozen muffins for today's reading selection.

Amazon Has Banned ARC Reviews, and Forgot to Tell Anyone - The Digital Reader

Panzer was taking a leisurely ride around in the Catosphere when the Panzermobile was suddenly buffeted by crying and howling. Following all the noise took our brave kitty boy to The Digital Reader site. With no digging at all he found a post about Amazon's review policies on ARCs (Advanced Reader Copy).

Makes absolutely no sense to me.
According to The Digital Reader site owner Nate Hoffelder, recently there have been a lot of authors posting at online sites about Amazon's new ARC review policy. Authors are posting that some of their ARC reviewers are receiving a message saying they can't post a review of a book. No one is exactly sure what has changed at Amazon since there appears to be no change in the on-site posted reviewer policy. Speculation is that it's another case of 'bots running the business without supervision. Be sure to read the Comments section below the post for some interesting information.

Panzer says, "But ... But ... How can you play by the rules if you don't know what they are?"

Note: This is a short-medium length post. Bring a cup of tea and a muffin for today's reading selection.

Bookstackk Lets Readers Share Book Recommendations - GalleyCat

Panzer was cleaning out the Panzermobile today when he found found a wadded up post under the pilot's seat. After smoothing out the post, our fastidious kitty discovered it was from the GalleyCAT site.

Looks interesting. I think I'll join.
According to the post by Dianna Dilworth, there's a new site similar to Goodreads called Bookstackk. The Bookstackk network lets readers have a library, review books they've read, see others' reviews, and have book discussions with other readers. There's a link to the Bookstackk site included in the post.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... Do you think Amazon will buy Bookstackk like they did Goodreads?"

Note: This is a shortish post. If you just plan to read the post, bring a cup of tea; but, if you plan to follow the link and go to the Bookstackk site as well, bring a muffin too.
