Barnes and Noble's Len Riggio Dead at 83 - Publishing Perspectives

R.I.P. Mr. Riggio

According to a post by Porter Anderson at the Publishing Perspectives site Barnes and Noble founder Len Riggio has died. After purchasing the original Barnes and Noble store he turned it into a nationwide chain.

Alice Munro, Short Story Master and Nobel Laureate, Dies at 92 - Publishers Weekly

Today, Panzer saw the announcement at the Publishers Weekly site that short story writer Alice Munro died on May 13.

Ed Nawotka's post is a description of Alice Munro's life and writing career.

Remembering Cormac McCarthy - Literary Hub

He was 89 years old.

At the Literary Hub site Panzer learned Pulitzer Prize winning author Cormac McCarthy has died.

Mr. McCarthy died yesterday (June 13) in Santa Fe, NM. The post is broken into sections of photos. As you scroll down the page clicking a photo's title will take you to a new post about him.

Panzer says, "Mom read me one of his books and I really liked it."

Today at the Mystery Fanfare site Panzer learned Pacific Northwest cozy mystery author Mary Daheim died last week.

 

Panzer and Mom were big fans of her Alpine, Washington, mysteries.

Fantasy Novelist Terry Goodkind Dies at 72 - Publishers Weekly

 Today over at Publishers Weekly, Panzer learned of the death of Terry Goodkind. 

 

In the post Calvin Reid reports bestselling fantasy author Terry Goodkind died on September 17. The post includes information about his novels and writing influences.

I'll miss his books.

Panzer says, "Mom has read all of his series Sword of Truth books to me."

RIP Jerry Pournelle, the first author to write a novel on a computer - The Verge

Today, Panzer was tootling around in the Catosphere when he stopped in at The Verge site.

In a post by Andrew Liptak, Panzer learned that one of his favorite science fiction authors Jerry Pournelle has passed away. Jerry Pournelle was the first author to write a novel on a computer using the first word processing program, Electric Pencil. With collaborator Larry Niven, he wrote the novel The Mote in God's Eye. Dr. Pournelle also worked on some of the earliest NASA space flights.

SF, F, H Author Tanith Lee Has Died

R.I.P.

Panzer learned some sad news today in the Catosphere.

Our kitty boy stopped in at the Tor.com site and learned science fiction, fantasy and horror writer Tanith Lee died on Sunday, May 24. Although she wrote in all three genres, Panzer loved her fantasy works the best. The post includes a link to the original Sci-Fi Bulletin site announcement.

Panzer says, "I'll miss you."

Author Terry Pratchett Has Died

R.I.P.

Panzer read some very sad news at GalleyCAT today.

According to Dianna Dilworth, Sir Terry Pratchett, one of our bad boy's favorite fantasy authors, died.
