Panzer says, "Of course, they don't have to give the grants until the appeal is decided."

Bennett, Roanhorse Win 2025 Hugo Awards - Publishers Weekly

WorldCon was about 30 mile from us.

On the Publishers Weekly site Panzer found a news release about the Hugo Awards.

 

According to the news release, Robert Jackson Bennett won the Best Novel Award and Rebecca Roanhorse won the Best Series Award. The post has several links including one to the complete list of winners and one to the Administrators' Report.

Illustration Agencies Introduce New AI-Specific Contract Clause - Publishers Weekly

At the Publishers Weekly site Panzer found a news release about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and illustrators.

According to the news release some illustrators agencies are including clauses in their contracts which state what AI  companies must do to use their work,

Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction to Launch in 2022 - Publishers Weekly News Release

Today, Panzer decided to make a stop at the Publishers Weekly site. There with some digging in the posts he found a news release about the Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction.

 

It looks like an interesting contest.

According to the News Release, the first Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction will be awarded next year. Acceptance of submissions of novels for consideration will begin on February 1, 2022. The prize of $25,000 will be awarded on October 21.

 

Panzer says, "The News Release includes more information about the jurors, rules and prize."

KDP adding a Transparency code to some barcodes - News Release - KDP Community

Today Panzer found a new announcement at the KDP Community site.

 

Makes it easier for authors.

According to the news release KDP will be beginning adding what the company calls Transparency Codes to the back of some of the books they publish in the U.S. and Canada. The announcement says the Transparency Code is similar to a QR Code. 

 

Panzer says, "With the new code the reader can find out everything about the author."

Hear it Here First: Rakuten Kobo Launches Kobo Originals - Rakuten Kobo News

Here's Panzer's second post from the Catosphere today. Our traveling kitty boy went to the Rakuten Kobo site for a little visit. There with some digging in the news room he found a post about the new Kobo Originals program.

According to the Rakuten Kobo news release, Kobo began a new program called Kobo Originals. Through the program readers in France, the Netherlands and Canada have access to "exclusive original ebook and audiobook content." Zoe Whittall's The Best Kind of People is the first offering in audiobook format. More ebooks and audio books will be available throughout the year. The post contains a section about the Kobo Originals program, a section about The Best Kind of People and a section the audio book narrator.

Still looking.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... Exclusive content through Kobo, just like exclusive content through Amazon?"
