CEO AndyJassy's 2023 Letter to Shareholders - Amazon News

Today, Panzer went to the About Amazon news site. There with a little digging, he found CEO Andy Jassy's letter to shareholders.
 
Included in the letter are Amazon financial amounts and percentage increases from 2023 to explain Amazon's revenue increases in sales, in advertising and in different company income streams. There are also explanations about Amazon's different business focuses. There is also a section on Amazon's GenAI plans.

Panzer says, "There is way too much information included in the post for this little kitty to explain it all to you. You need to read the letter yourself."

The letter explains how the company has managed other economic downturns and how it is managing the current one. It describes the necessity for employee layoffs and division closures.

Update from CEO Andy Jassy on Amazon's operating plan and additional role eliminations - Company News

 Today, Panzer made a trip to Amazon's news release site. There our intrepid kitty traveler found a post by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy.

According to the post, Amazon will be doing 9,000 role eliminations in April. This is in addition to the 18,000 role eliminations announced in January. Amazon is striving to become a leaner company in these uncertain economic times.

It's not a role playing game. They're people.
Panzer says, "This little kitty wants to know why you say role eliminations. Just say you're laying off another 9,000 employees in addition to the 18,000 employees you laid off in January."

Amazon CEO says company will lay off more than 18,000 workers - NPR

Today Panzer made a trip to the NPR site. There he found a post about Amazon employees.
 
Panzer says, That's a lot of people.

According to Bobby Allyn's post, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced the company will be laying off over 18,000 employees. The layoffs will be centered on corporate workers. The post includes a link to Jassy's announcement about the layoffs at Amazon.
 
Panzer says, "18,000? Employees in what cities? What countries?"

Today, Panzer stopped in at the Amazon Company News site. With a little digging there our inquisitive kitty boy found a post from CEO Andy Jazzy.
 
What is the economy?
The post explains the recent "role eliminations" in Amazon's workforce. CEO Andy Jazzy says the reductions were necessitated by the economy. He also says the reductions will continue into 2023.
 
Panzer says, "Hmm ... Everybody is laying off employees."
