Amazon Announces Plans to Hire 125,000 Employees in Hundreds of Cities and Towns Across America - Press Release

Today, Panzer has a quick post for you from Amazon.

 

According to the Press Release on the Amazon News site, the company will be hiring 125,000 new employees in various states. The post includes a link with information about how to apply. Pay is $18 an hour. Depending on the job there may be a signing bonus too. 

 

Also included in the post just before the About Amazon section is a link to register for Amazon's Career Day - America on September 15. This is Amazon's recruiter coaching day to help you get a job. It's free to register and attend the sessions. It's virtual, but has limited attendance.

 

Sorry! It was just announced today.

Panzer says, "Yes, September 15 is tomorrow. So hurry up and register now, if you want coaching help."

Crime Conn Express - Do Some Damage

 In case you're looking for something to do tomorrow, Panzer found a Crime Fiction panel discussion for you to attend. 

 

According to the Do Some Damage site, the CrimeCONN is usually held in Connecticut, but because of the Covid-19 pandemic it was virtual this year. Thursday night from 7pm to 8pm is the final panel. The panel will include crime fiction authors Timothy Hallinan and Cara Black and for Akashic Books Noir Series John Temple.

Well hurry up!

 

The panel discussion is free, but you must register to attend. The post includes a link to register. It appears there are only a certain number of attendees allowed, so hurry and register to attend.

2021 Workshops and Conferences January to March - Red Pencil

Which one do I want to go to?

Today Panzer made a quick stop at the Blood Red Pencil site. With no digging at all our happy kitty boy found a post about upcoming online workshops and conferences in January through March. If you're looking for something educating, entertaining and fun, one or more of these may be of interest to you.

Panzer says, "There have already been changes to some of the workshops and conferences listed at this site. Some of these have already been postponed to next year, but the rest are still online. Be sure to check the costs."

It Took COVID Closures to Reveal Just How Much Libraries Do Beyond Lending Books - The Observer

Today Panzer was just minding his own cat business and tootling around in the Catosphere, when the Panzermobile was shaken by clapping and cheering coming from outside. Following all the hullabaloo took our adventuresome kitty boy to the Observer site. There he found a post about U.S. and U.K. libraries.

 

According to the Observer post by Gillian Harvey, many people are not aware of all the available services provided by the U.S. and U.K. libraries.  With the Covid-19 lockdowns, today's libraries offer more than checking out physical books. Now library patrons can make use of numerous virtual services. These include online educational training for children and adults, recreational training such as learning to paint,  games for children, and more. This is an in depth post with lots of information.

 

Mom is taking a class there too.

Panzer says, "We already knew about this. We've been watching movies and TV shows Mom found at our local library's online site. Check out what your library has online."

Library Programming for Teens Goes Virtual During Covid-19 - Publishers Weekly

While the post Panzer found today over at the Publishers Weekly site doesn't have anything to do with publishing, it does look like fun. The post is about what libraries are doing during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Publishers Weekly post by Sara Grochowski explains how libraries are dealing with the Covid-19 forced library shutdowns. Since all U.S. libraries are closed they've had to come up with new ways to present their programs and activities virtually for teens. The post includes an overview of five libraries and the ways they are offering each of their programs. The online activities range from trivia games to pet parades. There are links included in the post to most of the libraries' activities, but not all of them.

I can't wait to watch the parade.

Panzer says, "Mom! Mom! Where's What's His Name's cowardly lion costume from Halloween? There's going to be a pet parade at the library and he'll fit right in."
