Amazon Announces Plans to Hire 125,000 Employees in Hundreds of Cities and Towns Across America - Press Release

Today, Panzer has a quick post for you from Amazon.

 

According to the Press Release on the Amazon News site, the company will be hiring 125,000 new employees in various states. The post includes a link with information about how to apply. Pay is $18 an hour. Depending on the job there may be a signing bonus too. 

 

Also included in the post just before the About Amazon section is a link to register for Amazon's Career Day - America on September 15. This is Amazon's recruiter coaching day to help you get a job. It's free to register and attend the sessions. It's virtual, but has limited attendance.

 

Sorry! It was just announced today.

Panzer says, "Yes, September 15 is tomorrow. So hurry up and register now, if you want coaching help."

Amazon expands education perk for workers to cover full college tuition - CNet

Today as Panzer was tootling around the Catosphere he decided to make a stop at the CNet site. There our adventuresome kitty discovered a post about a new addition to an Amazon employee perk.

 

According to the post by Carrie Mihalcik, Amazon has added a new employee perk to their Career Choice employee program. Amazon will now pay the full tuition and fees for associate and bachelor's degrees for eligible employees. The new add-on to the program will begin next January and will be available to 75,000 operations employees in the U.S.

 

Looking for a job?

Panzer says, "Pay for my college tuition? Makes me want ot go join their workforce."

Post-Pandemic Publishing for Indie Authors - Smashwords

I'm really tired of this virus. Are you?

Panzer decided to make a stop at the Smashwords site today.  Our illustrious kitty boy uses Smashwords distribution for his ebooks so he likes to check the blog there to see what's happening. With hardly any digging at all he found a post about the Covid-19 pandemic's impact on indie ebook authors.

Mark Coker's blog post is divided into eight sections. The first sections of the post delve into the world health and economic and financial impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. The next sections deal with how these will impact the indie author environment. The final section of the post is the "Indie Author Action Plan" and contains steps for authors to follow to maintain their long-term career goals.

Panzer says, "This is an interesting post."

Amazon surpasses Microsoft in number of Seattle region employees amid big growth plans across US - GeekWire

Today as Panzer entered the Catosphere he heard clapping and cheering outside. Following all the jocularity took our brave kitty boy to the GeekWire site. There with no digging at all he discovered a post about Amazon's employment plans.

MeWOW! 30,000 jobs!

According to GeekWire's Civic Editor Monica Nickelsburg, Amazon announced they now have 53,500 employees in the Seattle (Washington) area, 650,000 globally, and employee expansion plans. On September 17 the company is holding a "Career Day" with plans to hire 30,000 new employees. The "Career Day" will be held in Seattle as well as five other cities.

Panzer says, "Hmm ... According to the post, some of the jobs require specific talents."

The Business Rusch: A Career Versus Publication

Panzer went over to Kristine Kathryn Rusch's blog today and boy is he glad he did!

Kristine has an excellent post about the difference between viewing your writing as merely getting published or as a career. The question is are you satisfied just to call yourself a writer or do you want a writing career? Is seeing your name in print enough or do you want to earn your living from your writing?
