Internet Archive suffers data breach and DDoS

Panzer's trip into the Catosphere today took him to the Malwarebytes blog. There our inquisitive kitty found a post about the Internet Archive.

The post by Pieter Arntz explains a data breach at the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine site. In addition to information about the breach the post also has links to helpful sites to find out about how to check on and protect your information on the internet.
 
Panzer says, "The Wayback Machine is not the part of the Internet Archive which lost the copyright infringement court case."

Erica Verrillo's list includes 77 markets open for submissions. There are submission calls for fiction, short stories, novellas, novels, nonfiction, and poetry. Lengths range from micro fiction to novel. None require a fee to submit.

According to J. Kingston Pierce's post, the Crime Fiction Lover site is seeking nominations for the Crime Fiction Lover Awards 2024. There are six categories to nominate in ranging from books to TV shows. The post includes a link to the Crime Fiction Lover site where you'll find information about the nominating rules and a link to nominate. Nominations close November 6.
 
Panzer says, "Read all the rules and guidelines before you nominate."

The blog post says the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition has a 7 inch color display and a battery that has an 8 week charge life. It's available now for pre-order with an October 30 ship date. There's a link included in the post to the Amazon store to see the new Kindle and it's specs.

Victoria Strauss's post contains information about a Philippines company which was shut down by authorities. Employees of the company filed complaints with authorities about the company's illegal activities. The post also asks employees at other fake  agencies to file complaints against those companies as well.

According to Matt Levin's post, the Authors Guild will offer members a certificate/logo to put on their book covers which states "Human Authored." Readers will then know the book is not AI Authored.
 
Panzer says, "It's a good thing I dictate to Mom or we wouldn't be able to use the new label. Get it? Our books are Cat Authored."

According to the post, author James Patterson is reopening his independent bookstore booksellers holiday bonus program. This year 600 booksellers will each receive $500. To be nominated the bookseller must work at an indie bookstore. All the rules are included in the post.
